The Things I Do For Pictures

I climbed this tree because I always have.
It is a large tree that slants across the creek as it grows upward.
I forgot I am sixty-one now but I knew there would be photo opportunities.
From above I watched Lil cool in the creek
I dropped my lens cap...in a snaky looking spot.
I hesitated but finally climbed down with caution and retrieved it.
But not before I shot the tree I was in...
The tree was impressive as a child but now it's almost scary.
I fear these may be the last photos you see from here!

are you nuts? you climbed that big tree? I do have to admit the looking up and down is really cool and worth the risk I guess. you could fall, get bitten by a snake, drop the camera on Lil's head, you could fall, you could get bark burn, you could fall.... are you picking up what I am throwing down?

Not sure what would be the most scary...climbing the tree or reaching into the snaky spot for the lens cap.

My dear, you will slowly find more and more things it isn't wise to do as each year passes. I know......but keep on doing what makes you happy as long as possible!

You are awesome-sauce! I used to love climbing trees but I'm afraid that none of my joints are as limber as they used to be. (I would have left the lens cap there...for the snakes...)

I'm totally impressed that you can still get up that tree, girl! Fear would have kept me on the ground but not when I was a kid. I was in a tree every day!

You are incredible! I've never climbed a tree and you've been doing it all your life.

You continue to amaze me! You are so strong, and almost fearless. You must be very healthy too. It IS scary, but since you made it, it is a super senior adventure! And I imagine it has made you feel very young. Good for you! I can barely keep my feet on the ground...you are a great inspiration for us all. And by now you know...this post is not about what you saw at all. For me, it is all about you climbing this tee!

Never too old to climb a tree! Just have to do it with caution.

You are a better woman than me! I am terrifed of any hight higher than a chair and if I did climb it, I would fall out and break my neck :D

Naw, you will probably do it again and again be successful. You have that kind of grit. The mood will strike and up you will go. Just for the heck of it however, carry your cell with you or at least paper and pen so you can pin a note to Lil's collar when you send her for help.

Please be careful in your pursuit of a photo... maybe better from the ground?

I don't think I would have climbed that tree when I was young. I hope you used a stick to beat around to get the lens cap. Snakes are not fun if you reach right in.

Gail ... oh Gail ... you are braver than I.
I haven't a good head for heights at the best of times - but climbing a tree!!

Mind you - your pictures are great, especially the one of Lil.

Hope your week is going well
Please keep safe!

All the best Jan

You are braver than I. I am glad your Angel watched over you, Gail.
The tree is getting older, too.

Great photos! I will enjoy them no matter how you get them. ♥ ^__^

Yep, I was thinking the same thing too, a bit scary right now!

You are something else...

a little bit of a wild woman.

And you fuss about your Hubby doing dangerous things! The last thing you need is to fall out of a tree, but I suspect that you will always retain that youthful joy for nature and for experiencing it at it's fullest. It goes back to my comment about doing what you most enjoy. Limbs heal, but I'm not so sure about a fall from this great one!!

I loved climbing trees as a kid. I wish I still could. It is satisfying to be up close to nature like that.
