I checked for fish bait and they were there!!!
I discovered this Assassin Beetle having a meal.
He posed and continued his meal as I picked a few caterpillars for fish bait.
We went fishing in the Top Pond
We caught a pair of bass (male and female)
and a pair of sun perch to move to the spring pond.
I guess, in a round about way, our Catalpa Tree grows fish.

glad you are using them to stock your other pond. daddy would have eaten them. he loved fishing and fish to eat and he used these worms to. that and he had a worm bed of earth worms. great shots
that's cool!
I remember those big worms from the catalpa tree that grew in the middle of Grandma and Grandpa's front yard. I don't remember grandpa using them for fishing but I bet he did. He almost within walking distance of the James River.
This is very cool! Thanks for sharing it, and I learned all about a new tree!
Did you ever try smoking one of the catalpa "ceegars" when you were a kid? They taste AWFUL! - lol
funny! It looks like a spider is eating the one caterpillar. Maybe that is what he looks like, strange! Love your reflection!
I like that. My grandpa used to say, natural bait was the best.
I had no idea you could get those for that. What nice fish too.
Love the idea of a tree growing fish. Glad your tree is providing so well.
Very happy for you, and just a little jealous, that you have catalpa worms. I hope your little tree will give you many more.
I can send you seeds, if you need them. We have trees; but no catalpa worms.
God bless you all, Gail. ^_^
YAY moments!
I'd never heard of these, I will have to ask Papa Bear if he has! I love that you catch fish to restock other ponds with. It would have been mighty tempting to put them in the frying pan, but if they do well in the new pond there will be plenty for that too!
Oh, this is awesome! I am so glad you got to go fishing! Wish I were there.
Great catch on the fish and interesting to see the caterpillar and the bug eating one.
