The Mag 170...Horses

Tess Kincaid at Magpie Tales presents a creative challenge weekly.  Add your creation and read others.
Ponytail by Last Exit
How would I know
The empty spot
They left
When I "gifted" my horses

The visit of strangers
Reminded me
Of my loss
My gift

The smell
The feel
The strength of horses
Touched my heart again

Leaving me empty
Once more
As I herded them
Toward their home.

Awww, this one really strikes a chord with me. In March my 32 year old horse died. It leaves a lot of empty.

God's creatures are as much members of our lives and families as are those of our own flesh and blood... sometimes more. I can understand how much you miss your horses and I so wish they didn't have to go. They are beautiful animals indeed.

ah horses are beautiful...we have stables through the woods and i like to go over and watch them...had a boy i did counseling with that used to love to brush them...made him so calm...and he'd talk to them...

Oh my ... can't imagine how hard it would be to let magnificent animals like these go. I'm certain it was hard to write about them.

Loved this..a close friend "gifted her horses" too!
The whole left in her life...her heart was almost unbearable!
You portrayed that "feeling" beautifully!

Even without backstory, the loss and ache is clear here. Even more poignant the loss is tied to 'gifted'. Enjoyed. Thank you.

What a beautiful group of horses that came to visit. I'm sure it was hard to shoo them back home.

Fine piece. There's something elemental about horses, something we all respond to. You've caught it here.
