The Mag 188 Laying Stones

I laid the stones
One by one
Making the path easy
To the crashing sea

To the place
We deemed the trees
Stood for you
Me and our love

Below the stormy sky
I waited until
All was dark
You never came

Laying
Remembering
Your rough whiskers
Against my face

Clearing skies
Winking stars
All said Get over it
Move on

the last line is my motto and my favorite saying, it is bob's to... the top of that hill is middle age and once we get there, the down hill slide is really much faster than the climb was.

We've all been through this, and some more than once. Very well done.

Have a terrific day. :)

I love the stepping stones to the sea........not that easy to get over it when one has laid the trail with such heart. There is hope in the clearing skies and winking atars! Thank God for the beauty of the world!

You've painted the uphill stones to two hearts and the love felt from loss on the path, finally with the two trees symbolizing the love of two people. This is very deep and very well expressed Gail. Have I told you lately how much we love your posts here :) Best to you n yours.

So sad... I feel the bleakness as much in your words as in the photo

A labour of love.

That is very beautiful, Gail, and a labor of love as much as the laying of the stones was.

How true that the best laid plans and paths of men never end up where we expect. I think that God has better plans for us than any we could craft, I've given up trying to direct my ways, watching things unfold is ever so much more satisfying. I've done my share of waiting by the shore for those who never came. Beautiful poem, Gail, I loved it!

Rather melancholy but well constructed.

Moving on is sometimes easier said than done--huh?

I love when small words and phrases within a poem give clues ... in this case, 'stepping stones to the sea'... my imagination goes wild with ideas of where that man went ... and why he didn't return ... and the stars know something that the narrator doesn't ...

Lovely words, and the stars are so important to listen to their guiding ways and watch for every wink.

I love the first stanza. We can try to make it easy...

I have a pillow that says "Snap out of it." I like it, but I have learned since that I need to do a little grieving first.

Well done, Gail.
