Six Sentences with Two Shoes
During this unusual winter I am grateful for many things I had taken for granted.
I am grateful for indoor plumbing, power, fuel and food and am also grateful that I know how to make do. I am grateful for friends and family.
I mention indoor plumbing twice because I remember the out houses, hauling water, breaking ice and freezing my buns while the wind made the wall paper move. Nothing colder than an outhouse on a winter's day with your behind bare.
Wishing you warmth and blue skies...and indoor plumbing!

Glad I've never had to deal with an outhouse. Camping was bad enough.
We were about ten degrees this morning - now that's cold.

Never had to deal with an outhouse. Yikes!
So glad I don't have to traipse out to the outhouse either. Plumbing is a very nice thing to be grateful for.

I have never seen an out house here other then for out door workers and out door events . Even on our farm and other farms back in the day and in the olden days there was always indoor plumbing . But yeah I would not want to have to use one in this cold we have unless it was insulated forget that ! Thanks for sharing . Stay safe and cozy and have a good day !
P.S and for camping with the out houses lol !
I have used many an outhouse in my younger days- mostly at the lake or at cemeteries. I know that my grandparents had them before I was born and in the 50s were upgraded to indoor plumbing. I cannot imagine sitting on one in this cold weather.
I'm grateful for those things as well. I remember having to make use of the outhouse at my Daddy Jack's but never in the winter. I only visited him in the summer....now that has it's own foul memories. Happy for lucky us that we have what we need. Oma Linda

An awesome list of thankfuls, Gail! I smiled at memories of outhouses, when visiting my rural friends or staying at our lake cabin long, long ago. Yup, those winter visits were pretty chilly on a bare rear end, not to mention running down the snowy path in the middle of the night in your pajamas, boots and coat! Indoor plumbing is a HUGE blessing, I'm going to have to steal that for my TToT list this week! Thank you for sharing six sentences with us! HUGS :-)
For the first 9 years of my life we had an outside toilet and it was very cold out there. Luckily us boys had potties under our beds so did not have to venture that far at night! Great list you have compiled Gail.
Oh Gail, you crack me up sometimes!

We an outhouse on our farm where I grew up but we also had indoor plumbing. So the outhouse was used in the summertime. My parents grew up with an outhouse winter or summer and as I was snugly laying in bed under covers in the middle of the night and 'had to go but didn't want to get up from under the covers because the house was too cold', I can't imagine how they plodded themselves out there in the middle of the nights. Especially in winter. In Idaho. In under zero weather.
Used plenty of outhouses in my time. In fact, we used one when we went fishing. Oh.....that was a port a john, lol
Once time without power while in VA, I walked up the grade to pee...heard men's voices....panicked and when I went to stand up, a thorn bush grabbed my butt!!!...Yes...thankful for power!...:)JP
This was a good one Gail! A Be Grateful reminder too! I can't imagine outhouse experiences in winter! Thank goodness for plumbing!
I remember outhouses so yes, here's to indoor plumbing!
LOL about the outhouses... I can remember a lousy camp experience; although it wasn't freezing, we had terrible caterpillars that, if sat upon, stung!
The other night, I was thinking about outhouses, and blessing the fact that I was 'inside'... even though the seat was rather cold!
We really do have a 'soft' life!!
OH YEAH !!! I remember the cold little wooden seats in our outhouse that was about a 50 yards away from the back door of our house and down hill, so sometimes in the ice and snow you could slide almost the entire way there. Brrr! yeah I remember !!
Thank God for indoor plumbing !!
Blessings

It's also cold here in Manila than usual. And the weather people say it's going to last until March ;o)
We had a double seater and the outhouse was solidly built, but still colder than heck. My sister and I would walk out together and talk while sitting on those cold seats. ha,ha
You really know how to make do, I believe, and that is such a blessing.
=)
Winter has returned here and we got snow yesterday. Temps are dropping low and cold again. Thankfully, no need for an outhouse here!
