a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Weeding Rocks...

Here's the tiny section I worked so hard on last week.  The stump from the lightning struck tree is still burning so I had a place to stack more today.

I decided I needed to weed my porch.  Have you ever heard of someone doing that?
Please bear in mind I rarely use any thing I have to buy.  I have lots of rocks and logs so I made my back porch outta those.  Hubby brought me a huge rock last year (he just loves making me happy). Now it is where he brushes the dogs and we use it for many things including a table.  So tools ready...set...go.
I had a tiny helper who posed for the camera.  He/she is only as big as a thumb nail.  Glad to see them coming back.  I also terrified a REAL Ladybug and a Skink.  They did not hang around for a photo session.
You can track me anywhere with my DP can and a vacant pair of shoes.  If you find those two things I won't be far away.
Lizzy enjoyed the cool spots I was digging.  I recycle dog food sacks and lay them under stone to prevent grass invasion.  Between the large rocks I place gravel.

It was a long hot morning.  I had to stop and help get the beef in the freezer (59 per cent of live weight).  Full to the rim!  That feels good.

Back outside to finish.  Hot, tired, thirsty, sweaty, dirty and more but I continued.  I kinda like to finish something once I get it started. I'm a tad bull headed like that.
Please remember the back door is usually the worst.  Ki-Anne doesn't care.  This is before
and after.  One job done for another year!  It was in the shade when I began but not for long.  Too hot to work this hard.
Will my next job be the second fig
or the poor fern bed?
Depends on which one is shadier.

Rocks! Yes! I forgot there are going to trimming to do around those rocks. Oh wait! I have a gardener. I will let him do it. I do a lot of my own weeding..but I've pretty much let him take over with all the plants I have on both the front porch and the back patio..
Everything looks so neat and weed free now. Good for you. Ki-Anne is such a pretty little dog. So healthy looking.

What I meant is that I have so many plants to care for. He, the gardener doesn't touch them.

Wow, what a difference after weeding! I think your porch is cool. Looks homey.

Quite an impressive difference the weeding made! I had to weed our driveway a lot when I was little. We had a gravel driveway and weeds were always sprouting up in between the gravels.

Ki-Anne is so sweet! Weeding can be so harmful too. Once again I learned this week, don't pick those strong rooted weeds on your way to the mailbox without gloves! Yikes!

I can identify with the "weeding" part of gardening . . . Never ending!
But it helps with pretty and AFTER!
I like your rock patio porch!

Another job well done, Gail. At least now I know why I would not have been able to keep up with you. I got sore and tired just reading about all you did. But you are still one heck of a tough broad and your patio looks great. In my heydays, I could have handled that. I get a kick out of you doing it. xox

I have a side walk that I gave up weeding and now just mow. I tried weeding one year and do know how much work it is. Kudos for you for tackling it!

Congrats! It looks great! And now, you've made me feel guilty - I haven't finished the last 24 feet, so I guess I better get pulling!

Your stone patio really looks pretty! Our house has stepping stones in front like this. The little toad is so cute! But it has been so hot here, over 90!

My weeding is done again for a bit, once more before final - looks like your commentators are weeding too, eh. ha,ha Never ending job - I wanna see the fig when its done. Patio looks like I could rest there very happily, perhaps with my feet in the pond :) Have a good one :)

I saw something on HGTV where they made a nice area with rocks. All I could think was, "They're gonna have a lot of work keeping the weeds out of those things." LOL You, bullheaded? Nooooooo. :)

I'll bet if I worked as hard as you do I could eat more without expanding so much.

I'm sure I'd be healthier cardiovascularly!
