Rally
The band played
as the cheerleaders
danced their admiration
football players flexed
the crowd cheered
flashes seared
the night
with
hope
the field emptied
except
for a
crumpled
schedule
tumbling
in the wind
as
the
lights
went
out

There is always the before and after... and there between the game
This is very vivid. I can see it clearly.
Agreed with Sherry :D what a brilliant write :D
I can't wait for football!
i feel like i was there
Gail this was a wonderful snapshot in time that I can still remember...wonderful in word and the image you created with the words as they move down the page.

Your words painted a good picture.
Ah, it is that time of year again! You described what it is like as one who has been there!
Oooooh such a vivid picture, if there were none!!!
The game is over all too quick.
We had both our pre-season exhibition games
for the high school. The real deal starts
this friday.
My son broke his hand in an exhibition game
so he is out for 4 weeks - and then we will
see.
Even still, four years go by quick too -
you're out of school and no one remembers
except you and your buddies.
Perfect words to accompany a great shot!
You made me feel like I was there...the crumpled schedule tumbling in the wind was a detail that really did it!
I love the visual gathering of energy and then its aftermath. I guess they didn't win! Thanks, Gail, for your support these several weeks.
I wish I could come and watch Andrew play football.
What a wonderful fall season this will be fir him, fir each of you!
Enjoy . . .
Loved your verse . . ,
Go Katz!
Great job, Gail. Have a blessed week! ♥
love the vividness here...
Yes the season of short term heroes is here.
...oh yes, I can see it all now, and is that the crowd I hear cheering! Yes it is!
Perfectly played.
A nice buildup to the climax of the game, and then the winding down at the end of the match and the little sad feeling of an empty ground... Nice write.
I felt this, as i have been there, felt that, cept it was not football, but the Olde Ball Game. Great photo of Andrew. He is graduating this year, right.
