a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

She Was Out!

Coming home I barely missed two deer that jumped out in front of me.

I thought I bet the white lady is out.

And there she was in all her glory!

It is deer season and I hope the neighbors keep her protected.  Game and Fish says she needs to be killed because she introduces weaker genes to the deer pool.  Aunty Mary use to say whites would make the herd weak.  I could not be the one to make this shot!

Do not worry as I did about the spot on her inside leg, Hubby says this is her scent area and all deer have them.

Did you notice, I am getting a little closer to the perfect shot?  I was a contortionist while taking this picture.  I was twisted backward in the car seat, lifting the camera over the door and shooting totally behind me.  A car came along or I would have gotten better shots.

Before this winter is over, I shall show the perfect shot, unless you get tired of seeing my bad ones.

No, no I would never get tired of the deer pictures. I am a little jealous this beauty is at your place and not ours but at least I get to see the pictures! I realize maybe they are right about her but I still hope she makes it through hunting season anyway. She is a rare beauty indeed.

I am just amazed your getting repeat shots of this rare creature. There is nothing bad about your pics and we are NOT gettin' tried of seeing them. There great!

Have a blessed day, girl!!!

Well I think she's rather majestic looking, her only weak point may be she sticks out like a sore thumb. Maybe the hunters won't want to shoot a weak link.

First thing I said when I saw these pictures - WOW!! I see that you are getting closer. These are great! I would be SO excited if I were actually there, like you, to witness this in person. I have NEVER heard of a white deer. I can't imagine SHOOTING such a thing. She's almost like the mystical unicorn!

Never tire of these shots of the white deer! Bad or good! Blurry or Clear! Keep up the good work, and I will await the "perfect shot"! Awesome! Just awesome! You are so lucky! I hope she is protected too.

These are pretty good! I like to ee them, so keep practicing.

I love the banner shot of the chicken and the cat. Our one lone barred rock hen chases Mary Shelley the cat. Mary Shelly won't go out the door if Paula Pullet is in sight.

Hi Gail~~

I think your photos are beautiful! I have done the car thing...not fun and the whole time you are worried if you are going to get slammed from behind!!

The white deer is awesome. How does he end up with a herd of brown deer (I know so very little although we see many near the lake)? I truly hope nothing happens to him. I wonder if any of these reasons for it are based on fact.

Thanks for coming by...I took a bit long to come back to visit and I do apologize. Enjoy the rest of your week, Gail!!

xoxo
Jane

I think she's beautiful!! I just don't believe that a white deer would have any ill effect on the gene pool. Pooey!! People are always afraid of anything unusual or rare. Love your pictures Gail.

Great shots! I think she should be protected not destroyed over color.

How unique, we spotted a white deer on our property a few years ago, however, have not seen her since :(

I hope, if a hunter approaches they are just as thrilled to see her as we are, and that alone will keep her from the hunted.

I hope the only shots taken at her come from you and your camera. Beautiful photos! Keep us posted.

There are so many deer around our cabin that they are such a danger. They are all over every road on the edge of cliffs.
I haven't seen any white ones though.
