The new year brought cold temps and high winds. Oh, the winter we will have. When the power goes we will last a while but if the snow is deep we may become lost in drifts of the storm and of life.
If we are stranded I do not have a cooking pot large enough for human parts and will not survive like the Donner Party and others who had no choice.
If the worst should happen I hope when the spring is new they will only find our bodies and know we burned books and cooked shoe leather to survive. We could be found holding each other frozen while trying to warm ourselves never thinking anyone would taste like chicken.

Oooh, I liked this one very much Gail! Certainly gave one pause to think! I would certainly hope to never find myself in that position, because I'm thinking humans must taste a whole lot better than the shoes! ;-)
Wow. Well done, Gail. ♥
Yikes, remind me not to stay at your house over Christmas :)

Ha ha, that was great fun. I do hope it doesn't come to that. I bet you taste like crocodile.
Horrific but laughable at the same time. I suppose the only hope is that the cold will make you so sleepy that you won't have the energy to be hacking each other to bits, let alone chewing each other uncooked. But I do see now why humans keep pets...just in case!
I bet shoe leather shoe needs extra seasoning...
I have often wondered what i would have done if with the Donners... now we know what you would do and since we are sisters separated at birth, i can guess what i would do.
I agree with Alex:) Good one Gail. Hug B
We are in the midst of another big storm - a stay in type - only out long enough for paw paw to do job and right back in. Snow is heavy, lots of it and blowing a gale.
I have lots and would gladly share with you ..... right down to my leathery shoes - quite tasty in a stew. :)
really cutely morose and so you. :)
I hope I never have to result to that . . . This was you Gail with a bit of the dark . . . but had me smiling too. Good one!
Loved this. I have had awake dreams of this sometimes.....but I never really thought about the taste of chicken. Should have. Linda

Well let's hope the snows don't bury you! Might want to add some extra salt and pepper to that shoe leather! Another well done short Gail!
This is tender AND funny. I like it!
