The Anchor...

Visiting Lillie McFerrin this week for Five Sentence Fiction
We had been fishing for a while when he just wasn't there anymore. Try explaining your way out of that jam to the cops!  Above all else...deny, deny, deny!  They dragged the river but with no sign of foul play or a body they let me go. Glad no one checked my anchor.

Always, always check the anchor. They do up here in the Great Lakes area.

Ah… great story in 5 sentences!
(My dad once traveled down with the anchor - he tripped and went overboard while carrying it, and the line. He didn't want to lose it, so once he hit bottom, he brought the line up. We always joked about his special way of anchoring his boat!)

Oh, foul play! You do have a wicked mind! You should become a mystery writer.
