For The Nut Eaters

We have an abundant crop of Black Walnuts this year.  There was no one buying them local but we had to pick them up anyway.  Never plant a nut tree in your yard.

I had about ten sacks full picked up when Hubby had a great idea.  He sat the bucket of the tractor down and we raked them into the bucket then loaded them in the Gator's bed for transport.  Yep, kept the sacks full for us to eat.
Added two helpings of pear peelings and middles
for any wild game to help them selves.
Dumping was easy!
I imagine there are some happy squirrels tonight.
Hubby delivered two loads to two different locations.
We had two dump bed loads clearing our yard from one tree.
Dig in and eat!

super great idea to dump them for the wildlife and also super smart to use the front in loader. yum on having them to eat. they cost and arm and a leg in the stores.

Oh wow, that's a lot of nuts. Great that you thought of the wildlife - now they have an abundance to squirrel away for the winter! We have a mulberry tree on the corner of our house, just before the entrance. This year it's been the bane of our lives - squashed fruit tramped into the house and flies breeding by the millions. The fruit and beautifully shady tree attract birds too, but they cannot eat fast enough. Our one cat and the Labrador love these fruits and eat a few every time they walk past! Have a great day. Jo

I have never heard of black walnuts before.
You are going to have some very happy little animals!

I'm sure you could get rid of a great many as gifts at Christmas to those souls who are not fortunate enough to have a walnut tree.

Good morning, wow that is a lot of nuts. I am sure the critters will be happy with the feast. We just have a lot of acorns on the ground here. Have a happy weekend!

Wow, now that is one gigantic haul! I promise not to tell the squirrels or any other critter that you suggest not to plant nut trees! hehehe!

Wow that's a lot of nuts! I would love to have pecan trees, but sure don't want the work of picking them up. I guess I'll just keep buying from the pecan farm...I'm lazy.

Wow that is amazing. I had no idea your one tree could produce Black Walnuts like that. I bet it will be nice for the animals this winter.

I don't think there is any nut that reminds me of my childhood more than Black Walnuts. My Daddy Jack would send us a bag in the mail and my Mom would make fudge with those jewels of nut pieces in it. Yum......
Those are some lucky critters having the taste of Christmas delivered to them by you.

We have three pecan trees in our front yard. The squirrels have been having a field day (though personally, I wish I had the time and energy to pick them up and sell them ;o)

I'm going to have to remember this when we finally settle down, and start planting trees.
