Self Portrait of Insecurity

I give myself
To you
Sharing parts
No one sees
Trusting a stranger
Unable to share
With those
Closest to me
Unworthy
Judging myself
Critically
So no other judgement
Will be as bad.

we are our own worse judges...harder on ourselves than anyone will be...believing lies we spin about ourselves...

Intelligent defense mechanism. For critical judgment that is full of truth and compassion shall never give way for ugliness. "Know thyself" and no one else shall ever tell you are not.

Love these words. True. Naked. Of the soul.

I think we are critical and judgmental with our selves so we don't have to deal with it from anyone else as that hurts more ! Thanks for sharing , Have a good weekend !

I think we are all our own worst critics and that when we finally get over that and start to love ourselves that..that is when we find true inner peace. I'm working on that at this stage of my life. I'm not the only critic of myself though, and it's a battle.

I hadn't thought about it like that before but your so right. We are so critical of ourselves so that anything else doesn't seem so bad.

Think of yourself as kindly as I do, all inclusive.

How perfect and your photo so fitting, and yet also so telling! It's as if you are putting your best foot forward, something that we all should do! Bravo.

Wow, this is bone deep and beautiful. I know the feeling well. Self talk, self analysis, self knowledge. Good stuff. Linda

You know, we are much harder on ourselves than we are n our friends. I have taken to the habit of..when I feel bad about certain things, I say "what if a friend came to me with this, how would I act? Well, I deserve to be just as good to myself as I am to friends. But for some reason, it is hard.

Intensely honest... you speak for so many of us. I'd never thought about it that way, but I know it's true.
