a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Words

For The Mag and Imaginary Garden With Real Toads
Chair With the Wings of a Vulture, 1960, Salvador Dali
Wings grow to hide my wall
Fiery lights run hurt away
Thorns in palms fester
Blister on blister turn callous
You toughen
Grow stronger
Build a wall inside
Learn to wear gloves
So nothing can hurt

Ooooh, great interpretation. I'm with Sandra, I like your poem much better than the art. To each his/her own.

Frame that poem and put it on the wall beside the chair where it belongs.

I like the strength in your poem, it lends so much to the photo, in a fighting to be one sort of way!

Your poem makes of the image more than I could see before. And that means you did a good job. I've written a similarly-inspired poem and posted it yesterday…Too many people I care about are struggling with life lately, which tends to make me struggle a bit more in their behalf. But a poem is so cathartic. Almost, you make this Dali image appealing.

Indeed our efforts and strife really cost a lot.. and we have to shield ourselves from reality.

I liked reading this piece mostly because of the buildup, here of strength and toughness.
We had a really nice Dali at the art auction on our cruise the last two weeks. It was in the $20K range and did not sell.

I appreciate your take on the pic, that we adapt and develop what we need to survive.

the scary part comes when the walls become too think for use to feel through...and what was built to protect becomes that which cages us...
