For Magpie Tales
Each one of us
Approach the light
In a myriad of ways
Face on
Side ways
Open armed
Or closed
From the back
From the front
On and on we go
We try
Again and again
Thanks to God
And Tesla
Life and light are not
Open flames
We continually
Scorch and escape
Again
And again
Not unlike the moth
We are drawn
To the flame
We test the fiery waters
Of life
And sometimes
We refrain
From repeating mistakes
That delivered us
Too closely to the flame

sometimes we learn...
all true and sometimes we just dive right in those flames and almost burn up. been there done that a few times...
"Thanks to God
And Tesla
Life and light are not
Open flames".......this made me smile..
Well said...
That is so true. Seldom do we learn from our mistakes.
Love the picture too.

Wonderfully written ! I like the photo to ! I do like moths . Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !
Wonderful poem. I like the first stanza best :)
Yes, many of us have learned hard lessons and like the moth, we continue to fly...:)JP
Gail, I can't believe that picture of the moths and the light...very good. We are a little like the moth, making the same mistakes sometimes. What's that expression....you can't keep making the same mistakes and expecting different results.
Very well said. This made me think of something I read once "...still, I wish there was something I wanted as bad as the moth wanted to fry itself."
We learn the hard way, don't we ~
A dance with words! :-)
Too true ...thanks for the wise words , light house keeper !
Without the dark, we never get to truly appreciate the light. A deep and thoughtful piece.
Too often burned before we learn. Liked the references to both science and religion. Well captured.

Lovely writing, Gail!
It's delightful to be on the side of learning and escape the burning sensations.... life is so very fragile.
This was a wonderful poem to read and rich in lessons of life. I think we often learn the hard way.
This was best . . .
Beautifully observant...
I went in the same direction. Great minds think alike ;)
