A Day Out With Two Boys...

and one very exhausted Nana!!!  You know no matter how carefully you plan ahead, there is always some school supply you did not think to get.  So today, two grandsons and I headed to Wal Mart to finish school supply shopping, just a few things, not many...how in the heck did my cart get so full????  Because I have not learned to say no, I shall have to practice more.
After Wal Mart we went to a War Memorial in Sharp County close by.  Jake had never been so every one had a great time.  I will let the pictures speak for them.
Jake wins picture of the day!
We spoke of history.
We talked of war.
We discussed the great sacrifice
of all men and women who served.
We spoke of veterans we knew,
and we talked of peace.

It was a day of fun,
but also a day of learning.
We topped it off with Pizza Hut.
Next Sunday
I shall have to have two walks!

Schools are now in here (Scotland but not yet in England) as well. Thank goodness I'm long finished with all those school clothes for growing kids. We don't really have to buy anything else.

Gail,
You're a good grandma. Like me you try to get in both the necessary - Walmart - and the events that make them think, such as the war memorial.

I love my grandbabies too who are no longer babies but they do wear me out.

Enjoy. Love love love the photos you always put on.
Blessings to you and yours.

WHat a nice day, Gail, with your two handsome grandsons!

Have to say, we've been dealing with stinkbugs, too. I don't know how to get rid of those nasty things. Poor pumpkins. My dad says we have to share a little with nature, but why they can't eat off the same pumpkin I don't understand, instead of messing up all of them!

Believe me girlfriend, when ya have eight 'no' gets easier. The boys look like they had a blast at the War Memorial and a history lesson to boot! Top that off with Pizza and life just doesn't get any better than that!

Enjoy your day sweetie!!!

That's cool that you talked about our history with war. For one, it does honor the memory of those who died for us, but also our history is important. Hopefully, sooner or later we will learn from our past mistakes.

I've recently come to see the human side of WW2. It's one thing to learn about the dates and places, but another to read about and see the human side of that war. I plan to read more about WW2, specifically from diaries of soldiers.
