Butterflies

A sadness overcomes me,
 with the fall butterflies.
There is  a difference from the joy of summer butterflies.
I love the beauty they share,
but knowing these are the last of the last for the year,
causes me to mourn the passing of summer.

It must be... for the seasons to arrive and the butterflies be safeish.

It is sad that they're leaving along with summer, but on the upside, it also means that fall has arrived. :)

Me too Gail, me too! Fall butterflies are the best :)

They are gorgeous, but they will be back, more wonderful than those before them, the seasons of life.

I'm still amazed that you have butterflies so late in the season...but then again you ARE farther SOUTH!

You do have great fall butterflies. I don't think we have any. Yours are very pretty.

Yes, they are passing through here too. Not so many as I had in the city but then I haven't got all my butterfly attracting plants put in yet.

I'll miss my butterflies here too. But I'll plant my fennel and parsley in between the pansies
and hope for their return in the spring.

It's strange to read about birds and butterflies leaving with the seasons. I live in New Orleans and we have only two seasons - summer and summer lite. During summer lite, we still have birds and butterflies and blooms, just that the temperatures are a little cooler and the windows are open in the homes instead of using the air conditioners.

Lovely pictures!

I always mourn the passing of summer. Fall is okay, but winter, not so much.

Hi Gail..
Every single season seems more and more precious to me.
All is well here. So far..so good.
Your butterfly photos ...lovely..
Are you deck out for Fall yet? I'm trying. That's about all I can say about it.
Cooler weather is nice...but..we will all be craving the warm sun again before long. It always happens.
Hugs to you...
I mean that.

I know what you mean, it is hard to think about it when it is still 80 degrees outdoors but winter is coming and I am not looking forward to it.

I know what you mean. Spring and summer are my favorite seasons. The older I get, the less I like the cold and the snow.
