a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Stretching

At some Christmas tables
Were empty chairs
It was not a choice
Just...some weren't there.

Stretching
past the empty spots
Stretching
to join hands
Stretching
to forgive
Stretching
to understand
Stretching
to be okay.

So true for more than just a few, the empty chairs and holes in hearts. Yet I like to believe in miracles and that some Christmas soon some of those chairs will no longer be empty. As for the ones who have passed over, I'm certain they were there all the same!

I'm afraid to ask who those empty chairs belonged to and if they have been there for a long time. Maybe it is time to put them away and have the ones that are left be enough. Blessings!
