Art With The Mag

le Jardin, 1962, by Max Ernst

Orange, yellow, blue and green
Surround a woman underground
Not to bloom or blossom
but rather to rot or drown

Art is in the eye of the beholder
As poetry is in the heart
He painted what I could not see
I rambled...yet both are art

It's great to see the different takes on this painting. I'm enjoying it very much.

Have a fabulous day. :)

Loved the perspective... you are right, art is what the artist sees, sometimes we understand the vision, sometime not so much. This illustration was one of those, it made me feel claustrophobic! LOL

I like your art a lot better than his art...for sure

beautiful lines. Beauty indeed lies in the eyes of the beholder.

So is she buried alive? I did not see that till I read your poem, but so she is! I'm wondering if this affected you the same way, because you say he painted what you could not see. I'm thinking that he takes something really bad and paints it to be pretty. As ever your poem, even about something like this, is so good.

Very interesting picture - I am not one for contemporary art but I quite like that. At least it is better than unmade beds and cows cut in half!
Your poem is very sussinct.

What - oh what - oh what dwells in the minds of artists - whether it be on canvas or in words - there is an expression within that has to be expelled - poem - very well done .....art - not so much.

The work of art is called 'the garden' and is a garden positioned between two rivers. The woman must stand (lie) symbol for what grows in the garden or her female parts are a garden of delight. Such things intrigued artists in the 60's. You know, that's when we all lost our inhibitions.

That is one strange prompt! I didn't do it this time as I was working on my Halloween poem.

I liked your take on it.

=)

Art is def in the eye of the beholder and we all see different things which makes art so intriguing. I enjoyed your perspective.
