For The Love Of My Horses...

For Peggy's challenge at Real Toads.

Rumors are
We were once wild
Eagerly we watch
And wait
Her touch
Her voice
Makes us safe
Her eyes shed water
In our long manes

What is "goodbye"?

It is interesting how talking to them seems to soothe them.

Oh my God, this rips my heart out. "what is goodbye?" The hardest thing about loving animals is when they leave us. Because no being love us better than our creatures do.

Awww, lovely pictures. I get so strongly the bond and love between animal and caregiver here, the loss also of freedom but instead love and safety.

Missing them being right there in your life daily, must be so hard . Hugs.

Great photos, a poem itself and a little mystery of what story could be behind the story shedding water in our long manes... more enduring than the broken bonds between and our longtime friends sharing beauty.

Heartbreaking to read what these beauties have to say. Saying goodbye would be so painful.

Beautiful Gail . . . Written with that 'truth' once again.
The reality is sad . . .

I remember you saying something about "gifting" - is this "goodbye" related to that. My heart feels sad.

Being caregivers of horses is a huge responsibility - and knowing where many end up when they get old, especially, is double worry for those who love them. Sounds to me like you are having to part with them... my heart is heavy for you...
