Poetry Jam Mirrors...

Dad stood in the mirror
With Alzheimer's in his head
He smiled, tipped his hat
"See that old man," he said.

Dad stood in the mirror
I stood with him hiding tears
Trying to share his world
As I had throughout the years.

Dad stood in the mirror
Where time moves too fast
Oh, Dad, how I loved you
From the beginning to the last.

Touching words. Missing a father is a very bad one.

Very poignant poem. I don't think there are many things we fear more.

Gail,

Beautiful poem.

The strong love a daughter has for her father. Dealing with your father's memory lose was very hard.
You stood strong, and allowed him to go off in his world.

Dad stood in the mirror.
this opening line repeated gives a strong desired effect. Alzheimer's disease is very painful.

Gail, did YOU write this poem???? It amazing, I LOVE it. It really needs to be published. It really has me crying now, but I believe really good poems make you strongly feel something. I saw my Grandmother through Alzheimers, it was awful, No words can describe it. So your dad has it? I am so sorry...

Having lost my own father (but to cancer) this one got me. So hard losing those we love and watching them go.
