TIME LOST

Alone
He sat
Wishing
To turn back time
All the clocks
Did nothing
His heart in rhythm
Tick beat tick beat tick beat

Tick beat tick beat tick beat
His heart in rhythm
Did nothing
All the clocks
To turn back time
Wishing
He sat
Alone

That works well in reverse!
And that image is part of the cover for one of Ellie Garratt's books.

This is done very nicely. Brilliant in fact.

Have a fabulous day. :)

Hmmm, interesting format. It gives the illusion of building up and diminishing, and goes well with the prompt.

thank you Alex, I did not see that it could be read forward or backward. yet another great poem by YOU..
all those clocks behind the man, made me think
the clock of Time has brought me to this place in time, Waiting on a bench that is like the graveyard the elephants go to and wait to die. or maybe that bench is a nursing home or in a nursing home yard.

Nicely done, Gail. You see how the simplest poem can be the best, and even be something I didn't know the name of. Did you? xox

Very cool. I like how smart and simple it is, yet full of feeling. The forward and backward is awesome in itself, but you pulled it off marvelously.

Time stops for none and waiting is all one can do.

His heart in rhythm - great line and this worked in both direction. So much captured and made to feel so forlorn.

This is great, Gail ... not easy to do the backward thing!

Oh, this worked beautifully backward and forward. I really enjoyed the subtle change in meaning between the first (and last) three lines in the forward & backward form. You really ROCKED this prompt well.

I always enjoy your participation in PJ!!

Hi there, I come from Sandra, we are blogging sisters. When she showed this picture it blew me away. And reading your whole poem, I adore it!! I think a poem is successful if it makes us have strong emotions, and yours really does that for me. I love poetry and used to write some. I have read your profile, and we are alike in many ways. I was born in 1949 and have been married 43 years. Looking through your blog, I love the format and the clever things you have to say about the pictures! Especially the one about drawing a fork.
