Colors of Night

Colors of night
wild and free
unseen voices
serenade me

Fear not the dark
listen to songs
and flights
with romantic tones

Bats wing unseen
almost silently fly
while frog and crickets sing
fireflies blink amorous sighs

Deep in the dark
predators roam
who feed on the songsters
no right or wrong

Day breaks
night beauty fades
with the sun's light
dark feast degrades

Rest for the return of the night.

this describes the night perfectly and i like it a lot. this part

Deep in the dark
predators roam
who feed on the songsters
no right or wrong

is why I am afraid of the dark.... it is not the dark i fear but what is hidden in the dark...

Loved these lines. The night holds both beauty and fear.. you have depicted the blend of both beautifully :)

Lots of love,
Sanaa

I like the way you have expressed that there is so much that is unseen in the night, but that does not mean there is not a lot of activity going on beneath its cover.

This is beautiful Gail, night becomes an enigma here with all those unseen things hidden under its wing...wow...and i superlike the first stanza. ...the rhythm simply draws me into the poem...

Now that was a very good read ... loved it.
I thought how you'd phrased and spaced the lines / words really worked well.

Thank you.

All the best Jan

Night can be both a place of freedom and pain..I sense in this piece as sense of figuring out what it quite means to us..

Gail, I love to listen to the sounds of the bugs, whatever they are, as they serenade me to sleep at night.
