a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Paybacks

I've mentioned Hubby and I have a joking, relaxed, loving relationship and often avoid boredom by pulling practical jokes on each other.

I will quote him from many times in the past, "Paybacks are hell".

The other day we were driving around on the Gator while I TRIED to take pictures at break neck speeds  We were checking a pond to see if it was holding water.  Not much.  Then Hubby drove right off the steep bank with no warning, straight down.  I didn't even have time for a dirty word.  I was gripping a secure spot with both hands.  Then he noticed my bare foot as we drove OUT OF THE POND. He said, "Didn't think those little toes could hold on like that. You have little white monkey toes." Then I found those words...and he laughed and laughed and mentioned he loved me a time or two.

We've had memory glitches lately (too bad we can't have our memory upgraded like computers). Hubby was panicking because he couldn't remember if he poured gas or diesel into the tractor.  Both are red jugs. The diesel has a D on it but Hubby couldn't remember which jug he had used!

After the problem was resolved I made sure it wouldn't happen again...

He won again!  Didn't bother him a bit, said he needed that and would be proud to fill it up at the station.  Some one please help me outwit this rat!

You do not need help. Practical jokes just come naturally and with that fine mind of yours, it will just pop into your head one day. I saw the nicest thing the other day. I was out walking and saw an older couple walking ahead of me. Having caught up to them and bypassing we said hullo's and I commented on how sweet they looked walking hand in hand. The hubby laughed and said it was his wife's way of holding him up - haha. Payback will come and then its his turn again - remember that. ha,ha Have a wonderful day. Love the art too :) H to M

you did what i would do to those jugs, but i could not draw a tractor like that.. marriage without laughter is not a good thing. we laugh at each other and with each other most of the time. but we have a few times of Those Words You Found. LOL glad your camera did not end up under water, we might have heard the words all the way to Florida.

Oh I love this, what a good way to keep things fresh in a relationship! Lucky you never dropped your camera! I like your creative helpful nature too! I trust you'll discover some little trick soon enough to out do him! Keep thinking!

They make a really nice bright YELLOW plastic can just for diesel. You cannot mistake it for anything else. I used to mark mine like you did, not so graphically, just gas and diesel, but it wears off. Get one of those yellow boys, though, and no mistakes allowed.

Love the humor in your marriage Gail. WE survived on it for 51 years. We had some rough ones in there and he always said one of the things he loved about me was my WIT. I needed all I could get to deal with my farm loving tractor loving man. Miss him like crazy but know he was too ill to stay. Hug often, laugh more!!!!

Gail,

Reading this post made me giggle. The best part about being married for years to your best friend, and soul mate is that you can play practical jokes on one another, and still love each other.

Another great post my friend :-)
