National GeoGRAPHIC TURTLES

Once upon a time
Far, far away
A male turtle decided
To "have his way"
The female wasn't interested
She said, "Nobody's home"
Didn't matter to him
He climbed up on his own.
Then the humans came
And, oh, what a surprise
The male dismounted poorly
losing his Olympic prize
She asked, "Are you done?"
The back door locked
He was on the run
She won't answer next time he knocks.

THanks for the delightful giggle this morning with some of my favorite critters. Turtle sex if like trying hitch up a u-haul trailer without a hitch. Tricky.

☺ I had box turtles all my life. The males are relentless. And they go on for hours!
Excellent captures, Gail.

Very cute poem with the pictures...is this pornographic? Looks extremely awkward!

I have always wondered how the male keeps his balance. Can't be easy. Maybe he will try again, or not.

Ha, I am glad that the female followers her own heart and doesn't succumb to unwanted advances. Smiles.

I guess that is nature taking its course, but good for her locking the backdoor.

I see that even turtles have a hard time finding love, LOL. This made me smile.

Some girls are like that as the won't come out of their shell and she didn't like the audience either.
