a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Changes

had every critter scrambling to get a meal before the weather worsened.  The valley was full of crows but they are more alert than me.  Not one picture was good.
The Cardinals were busy gathering nuts in December
Lots of activity in the old pecan tree
and the rain began to fall

Birds blended easily
and this guy decided to hide

Want to know the weather?
Just watch the animals and they'll tell.

Gail,

That's for sure. If you see squirrel running all over like crazy and digging holes, you know winter is at your back door knocking.

You are right. Since we have the cold front coming through this week, it will be interesting to see how the animals are reacting.

The squirrels come and gather up my chicken food, then haul it off to their nests. My cats constantly try to catch them, but thankfully they never do.

What a beautiful bird and squirrel. We only have the grey squirrels here as the red ones have been virtually wiped out when the grey ones were introduced.

They sure do. They listen better to nature than people do.

Indeed they do! They will empty the feeder out side the kitchen window in one day when the weather is threatening.

So, So true Gail . . .
The critters were wild here today . . .
I counted 8-10 Cardinals, about the same number of squirrels and the small birds, junco, finch, chicadee,
I lost count! Busy lunch counter today!
