Moss Walk

We followed the sandy road
Lil wanted to play stick
Ki-Anne made splashes again and again.
Checked the May Apple crop
and traveled through the old orchard that was a hundred years or more.
The walk was up hill and hot.
Lil found a treasure...a water hole behind a terrace doing its job.
The trapped rain water felt so good and cool
even prissy Lizzy had a sit down.
I gathered moss,
with low environmental impact,
to add to my water garden.
It makes an amazing natural filter
and it grows!

Lovely series of photo's.
Water is so welcome ...
An 'old orchard that was a hundred years or more', is a special place.

I love nature, we really must look after our surroundings the best we can.

Wishing you a good week Gail

All the best Jan

Lil has her whole face in it.
Lizzy is getting braver about the water.

Looks like such a fun walk with your dogs.

Lil with her nose buried in the water is precious! A friend has invited us (3 dogkids and I) up to her little lake for a visit. I will be interested to see if mine are as fond of the water as yours.

Hooray for wilderness hikes and dogs! And of course the Mom that leads them to explore!

Gail,
Being able to walk, and lay in that nice cool water makes the heat pass at ease. I love picking up wild moss and using it in the garden. Do you know their are people who will pay good money at a nursery for moss?

Maybe I should try to grow some moss in the cow bowl. I did not know that.
The cow bowl is stagnant water though, sort of. We keep talking about trying aeration...

The slab of stone surrounded by moss looks amazingly like a 'gator. What a delightful adventure.

I know nothing about moss, but this kind is so pretty! They are sticking their heads right in that water! Must have felt so good and cool!

You'll have to show us your water garden! Or maybe you have, and I missed it... Sounds refreshing!

I love moss. It grows naturally in our yard due to the moisture, but Dave always kills it with weed spray. It is one of our major sources of contention…

Your new pal,

What happy doggies they are! On a hot day, cool water probably would make me happy too, ha. I might just jump in with them, LOL! Love that you have a 100yr old orchard! How amazing is that?

A very enjoyable stroll, indeed. I enjoyed it as much as the animals did. :)

Excellent pictures. Really top quality. What kind of camera are you using? I really need to replace my ten year old $64.00 Walmart camera.
