a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Laughing Orca's...

Lisa asked,  "If you were given a million dollars tomorrow.  What would you do and how would you spend it?"

I'm gonna assume, Lisa, that is what's left after taxes!

First, I would pay bills for the immediate family, should be a little left, but a million doesn't go as far as it used to go.

After setting up a trust fund for the grandchildren, I would buy Hubby a truck.  I would like to give the girls a small monetary boost in their lives.

Watch out, I am gonna go a little crazy now.  I would build fences and cross fences completely around this property, planned wisely with lots of gates.  I would repair all our equipment.

I would reinsulate the house, put in central wood heat and redo the wiring, place a new roof over the whole thing and add porches, lots of porches with roofs and screens.

I would repair and expand the barn and build another for cows and hay.

I would like to build rustic cabins around the farm in key places so people could see the beauty that is At The Farm.  They would stay in their cabins but come to the main house for meals if they wanted. I could be their guide for fishing, horseback riding, hiking, exploring, arrow head hunting, or just enjoy the scenery.

I guess that means start a business. I think for the grand opening week I would invite all my blogger friends to come for a week, free of charge, so I could meet face to face all the wonderful people I have talked to here.

Have I spent my million yet, Lisa?

If I win the lottery, I promise to fund your dream for a cabin I can use here and there. I'd say I'd love to come visit in winter when it's too cold here, but hey, your winter seems to have been worse than ours when it comes to weather. I would like to be there during the spring and fall.

Too blame cool...it is somewhat similar to what I would like to do with a property Gail!!
Of course, yours is pretty special, having been the family treasure all this time!
Nice!

If I had an extra million I give it to you.

That's funny, if I had a mil I'd do alot similar to you: Pay bills, build a house for my mother, setup trust funds, work on the house, build fences, build barns & garages, and build houses on the property. I thought I'd make them like bed & brakfast places, where friends & family could stay when visiting. That's been in the back of my mind for the past year... Interesting that you'd do the same!

Oh Gail, I would be there in a flash to stay at the Farm, even if it wasn't for free! And if I won the Euro millions tonight I would send you some to make your dreams come true. Sarah x

They always say to live your life as if you won the lottery, because then you'll follow your heart.

So we'll be right over.

LOL

It's a great dream!

All great ideas to spend your windfall, Gail. Yah, 1 million doesn't go as far these days. But you know the best ways to make it go far and make your farm just the way you've always wanted it. Making dreams come true. That's what it's about.
I hope you'll invite me to camp out in one of your cabins, too.

I promise to bring chocolate. ;-)

Sounds like a wonderful idea. One can only dream.

And that's all mine are - dreams. 'Cause you know what a "LOSER" I am! LOL!

I think you might need an extra mil. But, I second that emotion....

I'd buy the connecting land that is for sale. We can't afford it now but I'd love to have it. And I'd build a barn for the sheep, so they don't have to sleep with the goats at night. Everyone would be happier that way.

May your dreams come true, but, I believe you already spend more than a million on your dream home, barns, fences, and cabins. If I had a million I would probably continue to live just the way I do now. It doesn't take much to entertain me, I'm happy just the way I am. And definitely, no farm for me, been there, done that!
