Picking Wild Huckleberries...

Marcy samples them.
They taste a lot like blue berries.
When they are dark, they are ripe.

They look like blueberries, too. :)
Don't know if I've seen anything like that, but I would love to try yours. :)

I haven't seen a wild huckleberry in 40 years! As a child we would gather them for my mother to make jam and muffins with. Great in pancakes : )

I've never seen huckleberries. I might not have known they were actual berries come to think of it...probs just thought it was Huckleberry Finn's name-coined by Mr. Twain and that's it. I need to get out more.

I haven't tasted them either, but I remember seeing bottles of huckleberry jam in our travels.

We used to pick them with the boys and then have huckleberry pancakes. Thanks for awakening a sweet memory!

Brings back memories from my childhood of eating wild Huckleberries around our farm. Back then we didn't know anything about growing large tame blueberries,so those huckleberries were a treat when they got ripe.
Blessings to you

I love blueberries, but you know what, I don't think I've ever had huckleberries.
