Little Grandma Anna and Big Nana with Johnny, Jake is the photographer and the horse was given to him. This time last year, Johnny was a rack of bones. He's in better shape this summer and since no one would buy him, the neighbor gave him to Jake.
No flip flops today, I wore boots and did a little test run. Johnny leads...
sorta! Johnny will not lift his feet but after a couple of rounds he would stop and back up so maybe, sometime there was some training. He got a tad excited when I wanted him to turn but yielded nicely when I insisted. It didn't hurt that Grandma Anna had given me apple slices.
Johnny's markings are beautiful.
He shows roan. Any one have any suggestions of what kind he is? I'm thinking Quarter Horse but not sure. After sweating in the sun and playing with Johnny, we retreated to Anna's cool kitchen and had a wonderful visit. I needed that!
Thanks, Anna.

That is the most beautiful and happy horse in all the world! Oh, I adore him!
I don't know enough about horses to say a sensible thing about him. I just hope he is a good horse for Jake. Does Jake know enough to handle a horse?
What a lovely fella. I'm looking at his high set tail. That is very common in Arabs. I think perhaps he's a Heinz 57 - of a particularly good vintage, of course.
I noted you said he was a rack of bones last year. Is he a rescue? He is pretty! I LOVE horses...hope he and Jake enjoy each other and have wonderful years together!
first ya get me with a dog and his dog photo and then it's boy and his dog.....I love it all.
Lucky horse, lucky boy....lots to love. Linda
What a beautiful horse,I hope he works out for you all.

What a gorgeous animal! I hope they have many happy years together.
=)
He turned into a beautiful boy! Show you what good care can do.
Lucky Jake! Johnny is a beauty and one lucky fellow. I'm thinking paint or Appaloosa?

Awww.. I want to give this sweet horse some loving right now! So glad that Johnny was giving to Jake (as well as family & friends) for the much needed attention, love and care!! Beautiful horse and his story warmed my heart! Thank you, Gail!!
Have a wonderful week!
Hugs,

If he's a rescue, he's probably had next to no human contact at all. I'll bet Jake will be able to do a lot with him.
Glad to hear you had a better day, too.
Probably all Johnny needs is someone to love him and care for him and now he has that in Jake with a little help from grandma.
He is a beautiful horse ♥
What a handsome fellow. He's still a stallion? What does Jake plan to do with him?
I would say that Johnny is an Overo-Patterned Paint Horse. Quite flashy, too.
Loved the photo of you. :)

He is very photogenic that's for sure. Bet he loved the treats! He is a lucky horse I think.
I'm so glad that Johnny has a good home now. Jake must be in heaven. :)
That is a beautiful horse, and what's one more to the bunch, right?
Okay was I the ONLY one that thought you were talking about "testicles" at first when you said, "one descended, one not"? Then I realized John the boy, John the horse. Ah! I get it!
If it wasn't testicles, what was it she was talking about? I have a friend who bred paints which look alot like this guy...beautiful...and now well cared for...
The same friend had a quarter horse with one up/one down...they decided to do the surgery...he was never a quiet gelding; always had a bit of the stallion in him, but he was a bit more manageable...
No, it was definitely nuts you were talking about. I made no mistake about that.
He is flashy! I would say Pinto- maybe with Quarter horse/Arabian breeding. I hope it works out it looks like he could use a special friend! ;-)
in dogs they call it cryptorchid..and it can be a bad thing...for dogs I wonder if the same is true for horses. All those hormones and all. He is a beautiful horse..I hope he works out well for Jake:)
