On a foggy August morning
Realizing it was
A dream
That woke me
I had dreamed
An old tractor
Cranked the first try
To help me
Move a mountain
Thor yielded his hammer
The mountain disappeared
I became an Ice Queen holding nothing
Except an old liquor bottle
Winking Morse code for alone
Climbing back into bed
I held my sleeping husband's hand
As if he could save me
From all the dangers
That come with dreams

oh what an eerie old liquor bottle...and its message...alone....gotta be a dream if the tractor starts on the first try...just saying...ha....smiles. nice close gail.
Sometimes dreams are so real, if we wake up we are afraid to go back to sleep. We might be in the same dream again.

oops - there is nothing like to touch of a warm hand near us to sooth us after dreams
Next time wake him up so he can stand guard. (My wife prods me awake when she has a bad dream.)
Cool that one's husband can protect one from all dangers from dreams. Nice sentiments in your writing, Gail.
What a dream but I am glad you had your hubby's hands to keep you safe & secure ~
Beautifully written--the bottle winking Morse code for alone is so powerful! Excellent work.
oh i bet he could save you... dreams can get so strange and real and it helps to grab the warm hand of the loved one..smiles
The image of having to move a mountain with only an old tractor makes the angst of some nightmares so real.
love this dreamy strangeness and the warmth in the closing lines...
Lovely story. Made me smile.
this could be one of my dreams, mine are all weird and never make any sense to me.. i don't prod bob awake or hold his hand, but he wakes up from me talking out loud or yelling for help or trying to scream
great imagery and super sentiment. Love the way you think.
that's some dream you had..very nice :)
Dreams can be so vivid.
the last line is so cute... may he be your knight in shining armour!! :)
I hate it when dreams take my work away. Thor should mind his own business. The husband can't help, but at least he marks your place between the covers and keeps the bed warm. Nicely played.
Nice one, Gail. And I especially love the ending.
=)
