The Keeper

I am the keeper of important things
Items that make me smile
Or remember happy
A blue marble
A hawk's feather
The shell of a snail
A blacksmith's nail
Rusted horseshoes
And rocks

I am the keeper
Of things
No one would treasure
Unless they shared
A memory or a time
Where I've been
Keeping shelters the moments
That with a touch
Can be real again.

You said it so beautifully and how many of us have done just that - picked something up, held it and remembered; feeling that moment come alive again. "Keeping shelters the moments that with a touch can be real again". Wonderful words Gail. I love what you have been inspired to put to pen this morning. Have a wonderful day and hugz to Marcy n family lol

Like this, Gail. If it is you then we share this attribute. I even have a blog called "me, old blogs never read, and . . . " [ http://jimmiehov2.blogspot.com/]*.
I don't post much in it, my last time was in 2013. Mostly my only reader is my daughter.
* The header says: "I'm a saver, meaning I don't throw things away. I just put stuff in boxes or sacks until I might want it again. That's what this site is all about..."

Your words today have me reflecting how there is a sacredness to infusing heart-felt meaning to an object. It is a way of revering the soul - of nature, event, or thought. Those who practice this form of art are expanding their own awareness - and when it is shared (as it was here) that expansion extends to me.

Thank you for that.

reading this, i am thinking of the hundreds of times while walking, or just away from the house, that my kids have asked me to hold something they found in my purse. i'm the keeper. it is a sacred obligation and i am pleased to serve. love your reflection.
