a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Who Has Stolen My Time?

It's October.  I'm not through with spring's work!  I continue to thin, sort, stack and clean the old house.  I have the second room finished and now must finish the slanted room so I can repair that floor.
I have deleted another pile and discovered treasures.  I have pulled enough lumber from under the old house to be able to repair, I hope, the board and batting outside.
Here's a shot of my structural problem with this third room.  The floor has simply dropped from the side beam support.  I am hoping beyond hope I'll be able to use a floor jack and return it to its original position. I've noticed they've sistered some floor joists. I won't know until I get this room empty.  If I work hard maybe a three day job. Trouble is I can't find three whole days anywhere.
I'm working myself to the bone.  I may even be dehydrated and delusional because I thought this find needed to be documented. It's a pack rat just like me.
I sidetracked on a rock hunt and found these colorful beauties.  Notice the awesome fossil in the lower rock.
Made my day with discovery of iron ore, few and far between, either from a meteorite or a volcanic rock.  Without a degree in geology or rocktopgraphy (I know, not a word, but I like the sound of it) I'll just have to guess.

Be careful fixing that floor.
Look, your first Halloween decoration! That would scare a few trick or treaters.

WOW - you should hang that olde pack rat on your porch and put a few pumpkins around it - creepy and halloween is not that far away. Coll finds with the fossil rock and the ore. I like the ? meteorite ? rock and love the word "rocktography" - I can use that too, with my limited degree :) Have a wonderful day and hullo to all; hugz to Marcy :)

Floors can be tricky when it comes t additional shoring let alone working in such tight quarters. The Pres hated workng in the crawl space under our log home built in the 1800's when we lived in VA...:)JP

I envy you and having that old house, especially all your precious memories that still ring out. But, don't overdue and drink water. Lot of water. Your sweet old house is gonna be there, work slow!

I hope you are not working alone. That floor has some dangerous implications.

Love the rat!!Alex is right--with the rat at the forefront. Nothing like a mummified rat to stir things up.

You only dreamed of retirement.

Where does time go? Indeed.
But, yet it is time that makes fossils. It is precious for many reasons.
We always loved investigating the iron and copper mines up in the U.P. of Michigan. You would love it.

I don't think the work is ever done! And you have your work cut out for you with that floor project! I hope it all levels up for you and comes back together nicely! Please don't end up like that pack-rat! He's a little petrified! Cool rocks! We tend to find lots of fossil rocks around our area too!
