Imaginary Garden With Real Toads
Swirl, wind, swirlleafs fall
floating in all directions
that end in down
Icy breath on green
paints in shades of brown
Soon, soon
shades of white
will cover
all around
Rest well, things green
store the sun's power deep
and prepare
to greet spring

A lovely adieu to autumn and a well deserved welcome to winter!
Nicely done. I feel like it's a good companion somehow to the one I posted today.
"floating in all directions
that end in down"
I really like those lines.
Beautiful I am off now to prepare to greet the spring:) Hug B
Lovely lyrical mimesis of a leaf's slow sure fall.
Bring on the shades of white!
Colors change for the seasons like changing of the guard. I like your swirling leaves. You did well, Gail.
..
almost finished with my efforts to "get ready to meet the spring". Love this nesting time of year. Your words speak to that very natural effort to do so....brrrrrr
floating in all directions
that end in down..
Such clever lines! I love your photos too.
absolutely the two best lines:
floating in all directions
that end in down.
So much truth and beauty in your poem. I'm always ready for the winter rest from the growing season. It's the time to look through the garden catalog.
beautiful, really beautiful...
Awaiting Spring...such a nice thought in the midst of winter. It is great for us to not have to tend to flowers for just a bit. But we are always ready to start again as soon as the last snow melts, right?
Beautiful. I can see it in my mind's eye.
Lovely view, beautiful words, and I like your added photos for your blog header, it looks more like you! I don't think you had them all last time I visited your new and revised look, but whatever, it's so you! No more confusion for anyone.
We have the same leaves on the ground ~ I cherish them, before the snow covers all in white ~
While looking forward to change in winter one is outwardly fair to bid farewell to Autumn! Great lines Gail!

love that first stanza ~
It's not going to matter what I say, but NO to shades of white.
Love the poetry!
A deep statement of the sleep and awakening of the seasons--thank you.
Tomorrow here in San Diego, the temp. is supposed to be 90 degrees. I hope the weather guy is lying.
Water looks chilly with all those floating leaves....:)JP
