a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Lost Words

this week i lost my words
they just slipped away
when I wasn't watching
i only noticed when they
didn't come out to play

this week i lost my words
are they hiding away
from the end of summer
or are they afraid
to speak and feel betrayed

this week i lost my words

You know, I don't believe in writers block. To me writing is a discipline, a muscle you have to exercise even when the words are not coming. Life does take precedence at times though, cause that is where the magic comes from. Find those words.

And here they are - popped up again! Yay!

It seems you found them - feeling somewhat delicate, perhaps, but functioning well.

I take my dictionary to bed with me so they don't slip away unnoticed.

Looks like they were just inviting you out to play. =)

so glad you found them to write this. and i do believe in writers block and also humor block. i have lost my humor on my blog, i can't find it. i think writing and creating requires inspiration and sometimes LIFE kills that inspiration for a short while. thanks for making me THINK

I think perhaps they are still here - perhaps they sang a little differently but still wonderfully!

Gail, your poem is exactly how I felt when my editor told me to rewrite the first few chapters of my book, based on some suggestions.
Where are the words?

I'm happy you found these, because it completely covers what happens to me too!

Ah, there are oftentimes I lose my words too. I don't know where they go, but am pleased when they return. I see yours have returned as well....from the looks of this poem. Smiles.

I can identify with this one. I am having trouble finding any words to share.

What a fun poem! Sometimes we have days like that :)

We all feel that way at times. When I begin to feel stale and the words don't come I back off a little and reflect. Sometimes, I just need a little distance and then it returns(so far).

Writer's block can be a source of inspiration. I like this.
