a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

I Said Pillar!

It's over!  I have reverted to total hickdom.  I have always prided myself on not speaking the dialect.  I can't loose the southern twang but I can say the words correctly...I thought.

I have always  pronounced words correctly and only used ain't for a dramatic effect.

I heard myself say pillar instead of pillow and I knew it was over.
I am Jubilation T Cornpone reborn (The statue, not the lady)

For the color of  a flower I will now say yeller, in fact, I will even call the flowers, flares from now on. I will no longer have yellow flowers. From this point forward, I shall have yeller flares, I shall look out the winder, I will put pillars on my bed, and I will become meller while relaxin'.

I shall now say oncet and twicet and I shall hear a Si Reen when the police come fer me.  Nothing will be pretty any more, it will be purty.  I will bake with flare (flour) not to be confused with the yaller flare.  My dogs will now officially be "dawgs".

How could I know, all those years visiting Dogpatch USA would cause me to end up in this corndition??

That's so funny. I thought you already talked like that and you shouldn't be ashamed of it, it's just a dialect. I've been known to speak it myself when I'm in the right mood.

Oh dear, you are so funny.

I grew up in Western Maryland, and the little area I grew up in has a twang. Now that I live in Iowa, a lot of people ask me where I'm from. They think I have a southern twang. Sometimes when my friends can't understand the word I am trying to say, I spell it, and we all have a good laugh when they try to get me to pronounce it correctly. It sounds correct to me. LOL...

Oh ROFL! what a lovely post. Of course I've not heard most of the words, but dawgs, yeller and purty I recognise from movies.

A native of Georgia, I have it bad too plus I have a Minnie Mouse voice! While riding the rapid transit system in Atlanta, I have folks from out of town to say, "oh talk some more, I want to hear you talk!!!" Oh well, I am where I'm supposed to be!

My aunt lived with us when she started High School. When my daddy took her to Tiny Ozarks High School to enroll her the Principal asked if she spoke any English? Heeeheeehe! She was from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Poor girl didn't speak anything but English...she just didn't speak Hick!

Loved this funny, funny post Gail
God bless your day!!!

Too funny! I knew I was in trouble when one day I said I was going over to Mom n'ems. I honestly stopped talking and was like "What did I just say!".

Thanks for the smiles!

Doomed, I say, you are doomed. Pretty soon you will be spelling things with a backwards 'K' for a 'C'.
