a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

The Lack Of Power...

woke me this morning.  The absence of all electrical noises always wakes me...for a moment I wondered what was happening.  It had been such a long time since I had heard that magnificent sound...it was rain!!!
Life-giving, earth-renewing, air-cleansing rain!!!  It was a blessed sound to wake up hearing in a land that has ground so dry in some places, the cattle walking throw up little clouds of dust.

The rain has stopped now before five AM but who knows what the day may hold for us.  I would like to see a old-fashioned slow three day rain but the chances are slim.

Now I enjoy the morning sounds of water dripping from the roof, crickets and frogs singing their rain song as the roosters wake in the trees, crowing to welcome the dawn.

I'm with you. The noise or sweet listenings of nature are so enjoyable.

I too was awaken by the strong winds and rain on the roof around three this morn'. A sound that I had truly forgotten it's been weeks since we've had a drop.

I went out on the deck expecting' to see a good measurable amount and have exactly 1/10 in the rain gauge.

No puddles, no happy little reptiles, no drippin' of my roof. Now I don't want to seem ungrateful for what we did get or complain but....what's with this????

Oh baby we're dry!!!

You have a terrific day Miss Gail and hopefully soon we'll get our nice three day soaker!!!

I'm hoping it is just a dripping sound I hear after the rain. :) Your storms are leading to me having a tornado watch until 4pm :(

I miss the crickets

We had some scary storms here, tho I was loving the rain. But I woke to 6 inches of snow on the ground! Bye bye beets - should have harvested the last of them when I had the chance!

I hope you hear the sound of more gentle rain falling down over the next couple of days. I do wish it for you and I know you really need it. We've had our share and for now it's dry, but cold. We shiver a lot and have the heat on and wear warm clothes. I suppose you're not up to that point yet.

I listen to the rain on my window pain and it stirs my memories again. . .I'm sure there was a song with those lyrics but I can't remember it!
