a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Shave Your Legs/Change Your Life

I had become quiet hairy, either due to laziness, pp attitude, shortage of time or maybe a combination of all of these.

My daughter said, it will take two bottles of Nair to clear your legs...who can afford Nair?  Hubby has offered the use of his brush hog every time I wear shorts.

These are my legs, guys...not your business!!  Who ever came up with the idea my legs should be shaven anyway??

Well, I gave in. I shaved my legs...several times.

This one act has opened a whole new world for me.  I can wear pedal pushers, or whatever you call the short pants now, to work!  I can wear shorts without shocking my family by my negligence.  I can even walk through tall grass with out seeds and burrs sticking to my legs...Wow!  The best thing is, bare legs are cooler.

Now, if I can just unstop the bath tub drain, everything will be great!

LOLOLOL! Don't worry, you're not alone. I don't think I shaved my legs once throughout the whole winter!

That's hilarious! I completely commiserate, and my youngest insists on shaving her legs every time we walk out the door. Ah, the days...

I, too, have made this discovery. But it made me wish for winter when I can wear pants and stop shaving the legs. LOL

Hilarious post! Love the "walk through tall grass without seeds and burrs sticking to my legs..." LOL

Haha! I usually only shave my lower legs during the week, then go all out on the weekends and shave upper and lower. TMI, I know.

I am so lucky - have very little hair on my legs at all and what I have is so fair it can't be seen. :) My mother was the same way. Oh, and I have none, zero, not one hair under my arms. So shaving for me is...oh maybe once a month or so, if I remember. :) blessings, marlene

While reading your post, I was formulating my snarky reply about clogging the drain with all the hair, and you beat me to the punch! The good news about letting your hair grow on your legs; the longer it gets, the softer the hair. The bad news is, your husband then thinks he's sleeping with a man! Ha ha!

Oh, how funny - thanks for the laugh AND the visual images! Walking through the tall grass....LOL
I'm with you, though... it doesn't take all that long, but there are so many more wonderful things to do!
My MIL told me one advantage of getting older is your hair .. all over your body... gets thinner and you don't need to shave! Haven't noticed it, yet! One more thing to look forward to!

I try for one leg a day during the summer..I do fine unless I forget which one I did. I am not sure why hairless legs are important..peer pressure I guess.
I loved that your hubby and Andrew worked so hard to help out the dogs! :)

Hey, at least you still have hair on your legs to shave. As I've grown older, my hair is falling out...and not just on my head!

And now you have me humming along to Deana Carter's...Did I Shave My Legs for This?

I've always wondered what obnoxious person made shaving legs a requirement for women. I think I would like to go back in time and give them a serious talking-to. And I've always been creeped out a little since reading an article comparing today's clean-shaven women's requirements with prepubescence. Women have hair, and I think the world in general needs to come to this realization

I'm not a winter shaver--much anyway. But yes, a well shaven leg opens windows if not doors of opportunity--legal and ....

Lol, this makes me laugh. And all the comments are funny, too! Sorry, I make sure to shave every day. But that's just me, I like to be smooth! Maybe I'm a minority here! I like skirts, long and short. I like sandals and barefeet. With working on the farm I put on old dirty work shoes, but take them off in the house. Even if no one but me sees them, I like smooth legs. but I'm not a real farm girl, I'm a city girl who's living on a farm, I think!

Whoever made it a rule that women should shave their legs in the first place should have gotten shot. It is a totally ridiculous idea. I never shave my legs and only have the odd hair here and there that's easily pulled out. I think it's horrible how women are made so self conscious of their bodies. Your story is pretty hilarious, though, and is a great illustration of the need to shave once you've started.

LOL - thanks - and enjoy your hairless legs

Hee! Thanks for making me smile today and take a nice break from packing-guh!
P.S. does that Nair stuff really work? I'm a bit terrified of it!

You're right. Shaved legs are lots cooler. And I like wearing shorts and and capri pants or whatever they're called.
This reminded me of the country song from a few or more years back.
DID I SHAVE MY LEGS FOR THIS?
I think an unkind unkempt husband. Very funny.
Anyway, I'm on a shave every two weeks basis.
I'm sure if I didn't I'd get comments from my three daughters who make me tow the line, when they think I get out of control. Thank God for adult daughters. How would the world operate without them. Or us, their moms???
Blessings on your new look.

Hi Gail!
Did it make you feel better to shave your legs? I've never owned a razor..but a ladies razor always looks so cute to me in their little cases ..all pink with flowers and like that.
I don't have leg hair or under arm hair so ....but I would shave if I did I think. I mean those razors are sooo cute!

I just rip it off with duct tape..lol
and you notice all of a sudden the feeling comes back to your legs

What - no pictures lol! I have enough trouble shaving my face so I don't think I will start on the legs. Anyway I'm glad you found the answer to a problem.
