Oh, I was so excited!!! Hubby has said, order one, it'll be like my binoculars, the camera will mess up again since you dropped it in the creek.
Look at this detail in this picture, looks like the spider is coming off the book cover, you can hear my Dr Pepper fizzing!! The clarity is awesome.
It was a beautiful red Olympus Tough TG-610. I installed this and that. I charged the battery, set the time, set everything just the way I wanted it...I thought. This was the camera of my dreams, shock proof up to five feet, water proof up to sixteen feet. I had visions of swimming with the catfish taking pictures as they fed. This beauty had 14 mega pixels, super max zoom, panoramic shooting, macro setting and this baby would fit in my pocket! I could take a humming bird at a thousand yards and make it look like it was hanging in midair!!! This camera rocked.
However, this camera is not for a novice like me. Hell, this camera is smarter than me, it can talk in fifteen languages I've never seen. I was ready to shoot it. I pushed something. It started talking in Arabic, I think. Not really talking but the reading was in this strange language I didn't know...and no way to know how to change it back...BECAUSE I CAN'T READ IT!!!
I read the book, which I had to download (in English) I searched for directions to change language, no results found! Could not ever get it registered on line, it kept starting over and over and over again. Emailed Olympus and they said they would contact me as soon as possible. I replied, it better be quick because this is going back into the box and into the mail!
I am now headed to QVC to rate this fine beauty of a camera. Let's just say, I am VERY glad it's shockproof.

Sounds great ! I have never heard of a camera that talks to you let alone in different languages. I hope you get some real enjoyment out of it after you have figured it out. Heck I have had my Nikon D60 for over a year and still am learning all the bells and whistles lol. Have a wonderful day !
Most gizmos are smarter than me these days.
It sounds like it's not your camera after all. You need something that you can handle easier. I wouldn't know what to do with a camera like that. It sounds too involved. Get yourself another one.
And you're right, I could here the DP fizz....that's scary.
As to the complexity of "new fangled" thangs.....yep nuf said.

What a pain. There IS such a thing as too many bells and whistles.

Oh geez- a TALKING camera? I don't think so. I have enough people who try to talk back to me without putting up with a talking camera! Good luck!
That's my problem. The camera takes the pictures it wants, how it wants. So my great pictures aren't really mine. They are the camera's pictures. ;)
Oh well.
Happy weekend, all! :)
can't wait to see what your camera does with flowers, bugs and animals around the farm. now get shooting!
That picture IS very clear. Just look at it this way: you are learning a new language PLUS getting the advantages of a new camera. Sounds like a win-win situation to me!
Oh my God Gail that's hilarious! LOL Reminds me of testing out my aunt's new camera. Seemed simple enough. Next thing I know I can't get it to work! It keeps telling me to turn it off and turn it on! OK! Fine! Still...nothing! Then weeks later, my aunt reminds my uncle to take it in to the shop...not necessary he says after a bit he says! All you had to do was take the lens cap off!
I'm sorry? WHAT???? LOL I SWEAR I had the lens cap off! Oh well...it was funny and you live and learn!
I think I'll stick to my digital 25mm wonder camera...at least if I mess it up, it's mine to mess up!
I know exactly what you're saying. I bought a Nikon 3100 and I am not smart enough to make it work. But it's here and I'll learn it I guess.
Gone are the days of putting in the film and pressing the button. lol I have a digital camera and i love it but i still reach for my good ol canon 35m. :) Good luck getting it figured out...it sounds like one heck of a very cool camera tho!
Good luck Gail I have a camera I had to download the book. I like to have the book in my hand.
Your camera does have awesome clarity. Hope you figure it out. I will wait to see your photos. B
You are hilarious! Laughing all the way through! And it got better as it got worse! I can so relate!
Oh crap! A brand new toy and it doesn't play nice. Good luck. Can't wait to see.
ROFL, this I could picture in my head. Especially since my new "Smartphone" is the same way. :)
I don't know about you but I miss real film.
