can't find her way out of a paper bag!!! It's been almost two weeks since I have rearranged my bedroom/sitting area and I continue to get lost every time I get out of bed. I am writing this early because after finally finding my way to a door, I was wide awake and decided, what the heck, I'm up so I'll stay up.
Something's wrong with my bat sonar/radar, whatever they use to maneuver in the dark, it's gone. I have blood blisters on the ends of my big toes, I have bruises on my shins and even my hips! I haven't fallen yet, but I could very soon if I keep up this crap.
Our bed is the same place, I step out, walk a few steps, turn right and then every thing just leaves my mind. I wander around feeling things and think okay, this is the glass cat so I am by the radio, turn and head forward to my sitting chair...not working. Somehow I always end up somewhere entirely different than where I had planned.
We may not be a one or two on that dark scale the scientists have now but it feels like a minus one is the middle of the night. There's not supposed to be a one (being the darkest) in the US according to this scale but in my bedroom, it is darker than the center of the ocean and the middle of Australia!
I finally find a lamp, I thought, nope, that is the statue at the end of the couch, okay! I know where I am!!!! I creep along the front of the couch, go straight as I can to the door...what door? Anyway, to make a long story short, I found a lamp, believe it or not right, beside the bed...how did I get back there? I turn it on and I CAN SEE AGAIN!
Let's just say, it's a good thing I didn't need to pee very bad or I would have been in trouble! Tonight, I'm playing Motel Six and leaving a light on for me.

I keep a nightlight on in both the bedroom and the bathroom for just this reason. If not it's hard telling where I'd end up when I get up in the middle of the night.
And that is exactly why I never rearrange my room. B
Pretty much the only time I move things is when I move, haha.
I think a light is a good idea, Gail.
Happy Wednesday!
Sounds like a job for a 'night light'....not just for small children afraid of the dark. I keep one on the bathroom.
Funny or not. After breaking my little toe twice (quite painful) I leave a leave a light on in my living room every night which casts a shadow of a light. But this also plays on my imagination, but that's another story.
You're hilarious! I got my dad a pair of bedroom slippers one year that have an LCD light in the front (the toe area) as a joke. He uses them all the time and LOVES them!
Oh, how funny... well, maybe not, eh?
We have a lot of ambient light... and in the new house our desk (which is in the bedroom) has a router, two laptops, a clock radio, a modem, a power strip and a weather station.... all with their little lights in shades of amber and green -little beacons in the night that bring me safely in for a landing!
Maybe you should try plugging in some of those energy sapping devices!
When we moved out to the country it was so dark and the house so unfamiliar that I kept walking into walls and the door in the middle of the night. Finally put a little night light in the bathroom.
A nightlight on in the house is a must for me. I have walked into one too many doors in the dark...OUCH!
You definitely need one or two night lights. I'd hate to see the bruises on your body. Are you a glutton for punishment? Have a happy Wednesday.
LMAO!!! Gail you are too funny! I was going to suggest plugging in a night light! I'd hate for you to bang yourself up more! I've done that on numerous occasions and I haven't even moved our furniture around! I walk back into the dark bedroom from the bathroom pigeon-toed so I don't bang my toes on the bed frame! That not only hurts, it REALLY pisses me off! Of course, my hip get's torn off on the corner of a desk...ahhh Hell! I give up! I have bruises upon bruises!
I can't tell you how often I am wandering through my bedroom at night in the dark, trying not to kill myself.
=)
My electronics (phone charger, computers, network hub, etc) all have little LEDs that end up making it just light enough for me to find my way across the pack of dogs that has to sleep around my bed. There's nothing quite like trying to make your way from the bed to the bathroom across 680 pounds of dog sprawled out (there's 6 of em, what can I say?). With out that bit of light, I would spend more time in the ER for broken bones then anywhere else! I am not exactly graceful.
I had to laugh at this Gail. I learned a long time ago when I was moving furniture around all the time to put out a night light so I wouldn't fall over something I'd forgotten I'd moved! blessings, marlene
I would have thought by NOW you'd know your way around in the dark. Maybe you need to purchase those night vision goggles!
we're moving house in a couple of weeks time and when we get to the new house I expect it to be like that in each room. Maybe I'll take a tip from you and leave a light on somewhere as well!
Goodness! How long has it been since you last rearranged? p.s. you blog titles always put uninvited songs in my head
I also have nightlights...bathroom (which is in our bedroom)and in the kitchen. Works very well. Try it.
HAHAHAHA...oh too funny. I'm with Buttons. Never re-arrange;)))
What you said about finding your way out of bed reminded me of when I used to go backpacking and I would stay in a different place every night and when I woke in the mornings I had trouble remembering where I was and which way round. It's a strange feeling.
