a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Watch Out, Pat! A Marcy Adventure...

 WARNING FOR PAT!

Marcy heard Squiggie barking as she was bringing mail to my house.  Knowing the bark, Marcy detoured to check.  This what is she found in my rock garden.
These are not National Geographic pictures,
but imagine finding this,
trying to decide how to kill it
while taking pictures!
She did all this for you!
Marcy said,  I have pictures for your blog!
She had to kill it with a square shovel,
in between rocks.
Not an easy job!
Lil was not around at the moment,
and she's the snake killer,
every one else is learning.
Marcy...one.
Snake...zero!
The dogs were very proud of their warning system.
Squiggie on the far left was the discoverer.
Ki-Anne got bitten
and looks like she has a waddle
instead of a neck.
She will be fine and has learned a valuable lesson.
Lil finally showed up,
gave the snake a death shake
and was satisfied with Marcy's work.
Thanks, Marcy, for killing the snake in my yard
and for the great photos!

So glad Marcy took care of the snake. I don't like to think of it being killed, but under the circumstances, you gotta do what you gotta do! :)

Very scary, indeed! Hope Ki-anne is OK.

We have rattlesnakes around here, more and more without rattles!

Ki got bitten? Yikes!

My grandfather's wife had to kill a rattlesnake in her back yard once when I was visiting as a small child. I watched her hack it into pieces with a hoe. I was unbelievably impressed by her courage. (I can remember how all of the pieces kept moving around long after she had hacked them off...including the head.) It was gross!

PS. Glad Ki is okay.

I just pulled my feet up off of my office floor and got the chills! That is one big snake!

Last night while helping my daughter retrive her shoe from her dog (he grabbed it off the porch and ran away with it), she kept telling me, "mom watch where you step! Don't step on the snake." I asked her what snake as I didn't see one. She pointed to the ground and sure enough, next to my right foot, was a very tiny little bull snake. I did the snake dance in a circle and then headed for the porch. The little snake on the other hand headed for our back steps and I'm fairly sure it went under our house!

I was by yesterday abd wrote a long comment on your many accomplishments of tasks that day and how much I loved the pictures of the calves in your heading. But somehow when I tried to sign in, it was erased and I didn't want to write it all again.

Snakes are my least favorite thing. I hope your dog is o.k.
Brave to kill it. I used to call my neighbor to come and kill the garter snakes that would come and lay on my bushes in front years ago.

It is good to see some ofthe farm again.

You are WAY TOO KIND to dedicate this post to me! No.REALLY!

Okay, so this city girl wants to know, why the square shovel to kill a snake instead of a pointed one? More area to kill with? Or you don't want a snake in pieces? What DO you do with a dead snake, by the way? If you say "eat it" I will throw up RIGHT NOW. I sure hope little Ki-Anne will be okay.

You are crazy, woman!

LOL, I love reading the comments here. I know it is not a copperhead but what kind of snake is it? And I have eaten rattle snake :)

I hope Ki Anne is okay. What kind of snake was it and is it very poisonous? What would it do to a human?
