That was what I found yesterday...it was a good day, when you forget about the part where I went to work.
Had to stop for gas and it's cold. I see a guy standing by his dump truck in a wife beater tshirt! I looked closer and waved and smiled. Curiosity had him...he came to the pump. Getting out of the car, I gave him a big bear hug...it was Hogie Wolf, a very long time friend of ours I had not seen in a while. It was a short hello but a welcome hug.
After work, came home to my nephew fixing my lap top to be wireless, I hope. I have not tested it in my room yet. He stopped in on his way to Maine from Alaska. I don't think we are straight on that line, he may have gone a tad out of his way!
Andrew and I left to find track shoes and pants for his first dance!!!! Coach says if he gets up his speed, he and Kyle may be the main running backs on the eighth and ninth grade team next year...which is an honor for an eighth grader. Hope the new speedy shoes will help with football and dancing. Hit some good sales and left with twice as much for half the price...that is always good.
Next stop, Chinese!!! I can eat my weight in good Chinese food. Brought a carry-out home for Hubby, his favorite...he calls it cat on a stick.
It was late when we got home but we had a nice time, listening to loud music and me, singing loud enough and bad enough for Andrew to beg me to stop.
I needed this kind of day...it was good!!!

Old Friends...
I had the best surprise ever this morning in my emails. I had a letter from a friend that I had not been in touch with for at least a hundred years!
She and her husband had moved here from Florida and bought property. Bev was in real estate and I met them through her. We all became instant friends...you know the kind that just falls into place like it was meant to be...the kind of friendship that felt as comfortable as a favorite pair of jeans.
Rural life was new to them. We introduced them to poke salad and chocolate gravy and all our family members. They fit in like they had always been there.
Life changes, people move on, and we often wondered about our friends but had lost touch.
Today we reconnected...she found me through facebook...which I thought I had deleted long ago.
Her letter returned me to younger times, easier times, times when my family was whole, a time when I had parents and Den's mom was still with us. She returned me to a time when all things were possible and the whole world was my apple, a time when my life was full of laughter...Thank you, Dee, for finding me.

The Only Green...
in this winter waste land of browns.
Forests of frosts look cold to me
I've forgotten...
how bad it can be!

It Was A Frosty Morning,
our second day of the new year. The warm air had left the area along with the storms. I was lazy today. I sat drinking my tea with brown sugar to avoid going to town...that's lazy!
The deer behind Marcy's were looking for a bite.
They blended so well, sometimes they were hard to see.
The woodpeckers were working,
the crows were feeding on the ground,
squirrels were hunting pecans in the trees.
The only one who did nothing today was me!
