Every week, we get a wonderful prompt from Jenny Matlock. These stretch our imagination but limit our words. It’s fun! Stop by and enjoy some talented writers, counting those words.
This week’s prompt was “The wedding was at the firehouse” using 106 words…I made it!
Planning to get married since spring, the dry weather came. That didn’t stop her dreaming of a beautiful wedding dress, flowers and walking down the great hall in her childhood church.
Something always seemed to get in the way, mostly fire.
The date was set, the plans laid. Dressed to the nines, just one hour before the blessed event. Tending to last minute details, the pagers went off!
The church was on fire! Donning her turnouts, she and the rest of the volunteers fought the losing battle with the blaze. The church was gone.
Never one to give up, the wedding was at the fire house.

Firehouse weddin'...now that's some hot love for ya!!!
Great job once again my friend.
God bless ya...we're off to Ash Grove to spoil the other grands a bit.
Woohoo...........
Oh thank goodness the wedding was saved.... and may the couple live happily ever after reaching to higher happiness!
What a clever twist! Was the happy couple showered with rice, or with water from a fire hose??
Good job, great story.
Yeah, you did it! That is certainly one unforgettable wedding story.
It's fun for you because you are so creative. I might have to give this a go in my written journal for a few weeks. But blog it? Ha! Not me! But I will gladly read yours! Gail, you really need to be writing an actual book. Really.
Love it! You painted some great images with just 106 words! I bet she still had some smudges on her face during the wedding!
You pulled me right in with your words!
Great story ^_^ great job!
Have a fantastic weekend!
Eva

You got the gift woman! Now that sounds like fun . . . was this your first?
Great story idea :-)
That must have been a real challenge. I'm glad it was you that took it on and not me. I would have become very frustrated. Well, maybe you did too :o)
Good job, Gail! :)
This was so good. And I enjoyed reading your soup up above too!~Ames
Cute! Hot lovin'! :)
That was pretty good! Thanks for calling attention to Ms. Matlock's site. I have added it to the list for a future Sites To See.
I enjoyed this a lot, was wondering why she mentioned fire getting in the way - making her a volunteer firewoman was a great idea, and really, quite charming that the wedding then took place in the fire house.
Well written and some story!
And why not, right?
Another good one, Gail!
=)
You did it! What a fun twist on this story.
And I actually know what 'turnouts' are now after my time spent there.
The weirdest thing about setting up the wedding and rehearsal dinner there was the voice over the pa and the led screens...emergency at blank, blank, blank, requesting blank, blank, blank. It was a bit hard to focus! ha!
I liked how you did this Gail.
And...
It will make it easier for people to find you if you publish your post and then click on the title of the link.
Copy and paste THAT URL into the linky.
In this case the correct paste would be:
http://gailatthefarm.blogspot.com/2012/02/i-rememberedsaturday-centus.html
instead of gailatthefarm.blogspot.com
Does that make sense!
Thanks for linking up!
Hope to 'see' you soon!
