THE WEENSIE WITCH
Alone stood the witch
Other days of the year
But on Halloween
She showed no fear.
She mounted her broomstick
Kicked it in low gear
Her holiday began
Filled with cheer.
The sidewalks were filled
Goblins and ghosts
Ninjas and pumpkins
And a bat by the post.
She glided through
Close to the ground
She wanted to fit in
Her identity not found.
Down the sidewalks
Up the stairs
Children running
Everywhere.
“Thank you” echoed
Throughout the night
The candy-filled bags
Held very tight.
The young witch was shy
Candy smelled sweet
With down cast eyes
She whispered, “Trick or Treat”.

Aw! What a sweet story! I love that the little witch was so shy :) Love the title, too :) So glad to "meet" you and so glad you joined in the Halloweensie fun! So many great entries - my assistant judge and I have our work cut out for us! :)
Awesome, Gail. Congratulations! :o)
I like your Weensie! Fun and sweet . . .
Witches are often portrayed as scary. I like that this one was shy and wanted to fit in. Many of us have felt like this at some point in life!
This is the sweetest poem and the witch is just too cute. We had a few of em here last night. I like your poem very much - it brought a smile to my face. NICE
