Icy Prompt From Poets United...

Rays of ice reach for spring
Spinning their own web
We see lily buds beneath
See life suspended
Surviving
Showing faith
Far greater than humans
Hues of spring
Spiral beneath
Black icy water
Waiting for the word to emerge

At least ice is beautiful.

Too thin to skate on, probably too little too. I bet it would keep your Dr Peppers cold.

I do like the idea of rays of ice reaching for spring. The yearning for spring is so well expressed in your poem.

Your image is wonderful! Here in Tucson, my fountain similarly froze, but it thawed in just a couple of days.

Regarding your poem... the correlation between ice and webs is terrific, the notion of suspended life that is still in view is intriguing and your references to our lack of sturdiness and the black ice dangers are terrific.

Happy you participated this week. Hope you check out the other entries and look forward to seeing you back again.

What a vivid metaphor for so much in life...waiting for the thaw.
