has been warm like spring but it is rolling to an end, the week and the weather. Weather man says the rains will hit Friday and after a couple of days, our temperatures will plummet. That's the nice thing about weather in Arkansas, if you don't like it just wait a few days and it will change.
We have a live heifer on the ground...this is good since the terrible loss of twin heifers a while back. We have reduced our herd due to the drought so much we will have only four more calves. Hopefully we can keep our heifers this year and rebuild the herd. Many areas have been affected by the drought and many cattle people have had to sell all their stock. We were lucky to keep a few.
I'm trying to think...what I've done this week and it's gone already.
Let's see, did some junk shopping and found some treasures. Compiled my tax expenses now waiting for W-2's. Filled out a farm report REQUIRED by the government that I couldn't complete until I had my totals for expenses...that took all day Wednesday
Repaired some fence, counted the cows, created some dishes and made bread. Cooked and cleaned and that's about it. No special projects, no natural disasters, just a slow week...unless I forgot something. Oh, yes, I have a short story being published in an E-magazine in March.
I delay a trip to town as long as possible. Thursday we went. Drugstore, Kroger's, WalMart, Hibbet's, Bath and Body, and a pawn shop. I postpone these trips until I am out of everything because I really don't like shopping. Cleaning, personal and laundry supplies replenished for a while. At the one stop shopping spot, I got a hair cut. Mom's old quilt cabinet I keep in the dining room is restocked fully. The 'fridge is full. Glory! I won't have to go to town for a while.
Hibbet's didn't have what I needed, Body works had a sale, Kroger's and Walmart got equal amounts. Pawn shop got a little and we headed home. Hubby asked, Want to eat here? I said our ice cream will melt. Now, that's odd for mid January.
So no exciting tales, no nail-biting drama but the larders are full and so are our tummies. For all that, we are deeply grateful. Hope your week was good.

Gail,
You've been busy shopping I see!!!
Compiling all your trips into one :-)
Now that your pantry, freezer, refrigerator and other things are filled and checked off your list, it's time to enjoy life.
Congrats on the new baby calf!
What's this I see???? You have an story in an E-Mag coming out soon, wooohoooo great news!!!! Please provide the link if possible.
The weather in Arkansas changes every couple of days, in Oklahoma it changes every 15 minutes, lol...
You think that's a slow week? Wow! Sounds like you accomplished a LOT! Congrats on being published! Share with us the name of the magazine!
We had rain last night, it was in the 50's yesterday and today, but it will get much colder over the weekend.
I try to get all of my town gaddin' done on the same day too. Hey, congrats on the E-mag story- cool beans!
It sounds like a nice busy week. I like seeing your nice full pantry.
I hope you get lots and lots of rain.
Alright -- OUT with it. What e-mag? I'm excited for you!
Congrats on the short story and for getting the tax stuff started.
Busy as always
Bus is good
I like your pantry. :o)
Congratulations on being published, Gail. You're on your way! ;o)
I'm trying to think...what I've done this week and it's gone already.
Ha! Half the time I can't remember what I did yesterday - or this morning!
Our weather is going to be screwy like that, too.
Have a great evening, Gail!
HA Ha I too had to search for numbers this week to fill out the federal farm survey. I hope the powers that be appreciate how much work we go through to fill out a few papers for them !!
Blessings
Marilyn
I think your week sounds perfectly nice! Congrats on that story! I spent the week driving to and from work on icy roads again! We are still in a deep freeze here in Northern Nevada!
I don't like shopping either and I have to go...WAIT A MINUTE!!!! You're having a short story PUBLISHED????? Where? TELL ME EVERYTHING!!!
I get to hobnob with an author? Awesome!
We had torrential rain here yesterday that melted our snowpack overnight. Hmm. So glad I had my basement waterproofed! Today will see temps near 60 degrees. I'm hopeful the breeze from the lakes will keep the trees asleep. We don't need another early bloom like last year to ruin our apple and cherry crops. It won't be cold again until Monday.
I have a feeling this will not be the last short story publication for you!
=)
Congratulations on the story... and I see you are stopping with "Familiar Spirit"... I enjoyed it, and I hope you will continue on here for a while.
full larders are good things...congrats on the story as well....that is awesome...i expect it though...smile.s
