Awww..so neat, Gail. Walking to school one day as I passed the usual pastures I saw something interesting. A ring of cows..all facing outward..and occassionally mooing..and I was so fascinated I stopped to watch this odd behavior. Been around cattle much of my life and never seen anything like it. From across the field came a pickup and as it approached the cattle parted and there was a cow giving birth within the circle..they tied rope finally to the calf's legs and helped him out..usually they are strong enough to just pull it out.. it was a good size calf, I remember...The cows that encircled the cow in distress..have you ever seen anything like that on your The Farm? I hurried off to school...late..but it is something I never knew about cows..and never forgot. Very protective and apparently concerned. Great respect for those wonderful creatures.Hugs,Mona
