a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

Farm Team At Work

The weather had boxed me in so the first hint of sunshine and warmth lured me outside.  We had some trimming and burning to do but I also stole some time to play.  Checking how the last big rain had changed the creek bed.
Every time I go out I see more jobs.  This was a rather deep spot reflecting the light but what I saw was the wood that needed to be cleared and the possibility of a grand son swimming hole come spring.

Then Lizzy, The Announcer, informed me the remaining farm team was up to something.
Four dogs trying to remove what ever took refuge under this stump.  Count them...four.  Squiggs is the smallest and Lil the largest but three found room inside the hole they had excavated.
Busy determined dogs
Lil takes a break and allows Ki and JR to fill the hole.
Nothing was caught but excitement was high.
Those are happy tails sticking up in the air.

Later this day Bonnie captured another armadillo.  She shook it so hard it was separated from it's shell.  Good dogs!  Bonnie two, armadillos Zero.  Things are going as they should At The Farm.

Wow, that's like shaking a turtle from its shell.
That is one big hole if several dogs could fit.

my dogs had 3 raccoons treed here yesterday morning. after 4 hours of patiently waiting, they actually came in to eat some breakfast and i locked them inside. it was sheer agony for them to see the raccoons coming down out of the trees on both sides of the pond while they had to watch from the windows at the deck. i did it for the raccoons as well as myself. thelma has a real talent for getting injured and having her ears ripped by raccoons. i didn't want another bloody mess...

Are armadillos a danger? I thought they were pretty peace-keeping.

Loved the dog shots, and man, I keep finding things to do, too!

Bet they were after an armadillo. They can dig really fast. I once had one by the tail. I hung on as it dragged my arm up to the shoulder in no time as it dug for its life. That one got a way.

Maybe it was the armadillo hole?

Well done Bonnie - keep those critters off the farm land. Good girl. I love the "Grandson Swimming Hole". Winter finally arrived here and we are up to our necks in snow with another big storm coming tomorrow over the weekend. We didn't get dug out until late yesterday....toooo much for us to move or even think about. Well, at least the driveway is done and I can see the car again and I can get oot the back door. We have a mountain of snow all around us. Wahoo - wanna go slidin' ? lol to family and hugz to M.
