Old Friends...

I had the best surprise ever this morning in my emails.  I had a letter from a friend that I had not been in touch with for at least a hundred years!

She and her husband had moved here from Florida and bought property.  Bev was in real estate and I met them through her.  We all became instant friends...you know the kind that just falls into place like it was meant to be...the kind of friendship that felt as comfortable as a favorite pair of jeans.

Rural life was new to them.  We introduced them to poke salad and chocolate gravy and all our family members.  They fit in like they had always been there.

Life changes, people move on, and we often wondered about our friends but had lost touch.

Today we reconnected...she found me through facebook...which I thought I had deleted long ago.

Her letter returned me to younger times, easier times, times when my family was whole, a time when I had parents and Den's mom was still with us.  She returned me to a time when all things were possible and the whole world was my apple, a time when my life was full of laughter...Thank you, Dee, for finding me.

That's always fun to reconnect but I've never had much success with rekindling a left behind friendship after the initial get together. I guess they were left behind for a reason.

How great is that Gail, I'm just thrilled for ya!

Ahhhh, chocolate gravy. I had a friend who attended our church that was bred and born in AK. and was just appalled that I'd never had biscuits and chocolate gravy. Well one Sunday in Kid's Church we all got to experience the delightful dish. MMmmmmmm!!!

God bless you sweetie and have a glorious day!!!

Really glad to hear that, Gail. :-)
I've never heard of chocolate gravy and never had poke salad.
Only know it through the song Poke Salad Annie. ;-)

This reconnection with my friend made my day as well, I have walked on cloud nine since....and the memory of chocolate gravy was icing on the cake! Awesome stuff people!!Those years might have seperated us then but I will never let them do it again. I will be making a plan to travel back to AK in the near future, I need to spend some time with this friend and her family who left such an imprint on my heart. Love you Gail

What a wonderful feeling to reconnect! That happened to me this past summer and my friend and I talk on the phone nearly every day. We live about five hours from one another.
It was me that found her...you may have read in my blog about it. I will never, ever lose her again.

Finding her and catching up took me back too. For me it took me back to age 19 and she was 18. We both had our first loves, were newly married...in love and having our first babies. We cried a lot..and we laughed. My baby boy took his first step in her and her husbands home on our first visit with them.
Facebook. It can be a hurtful place..but it can bring joy!
I am glad your friend found you and that you were able to reconnect. Makes me smile! :)
Love and hugs!
