The manes are a little scraggly since they graze in brambles and briars...our bush hog was broken for a while and hubby still hasn't completed all the bush hogging.
Arrow, sporting his untangled combed mane
Magic wondering when his turn would come.
and now happy with his new do.
The same place always gets tangled on Charme
I like to think Charme was bowing to the hair dresser but, sadly, she was only checking her leg. It is hard to take pictures when they are all so close. I felt safe and surrounded by their love...and only in flip flops...again. Would you say they are relaxed?
I even got some grooming of my own!
The perfect way to spend a morning.

They are lovely! I think scraggly manes are prettiest, anyway. I leave my show horse's mane to grow and get scraggly all winter, and I'm always sad when I have to cut it for show season in the spring.
In this heat, I am usually out and about barefoot. After you've been stepped on as many times as I have, your feet go a little numb from the nerve damage. I no longer fear being stepped on. It doesn't hurt anymore ;)
beautiful animals.
Like probably every other person in America I've always wanted to ride horses. Never had the opportunity. Well, once on a short "trail ride". Learning to ride is still on my bucket list - I wonder how old is too old for that. :) blessings, marlene
Looks like you and those horses had a wonderful Sunday morning. What a good relaxing way to spend some time.
Blessings to you

A fantastic way to spend period ! You are lucky to have these beauties. They are all so pretty before and after their grooming! Awesome photos ! I would be in heaven if I could just have horses again ! Have a wonderful day !
It's good that you have the love and the patience to spend on them. Other owners wouldn't care as much. There's a lot of mutual satisfaction there. It shows.
Glad to see you took some you time, Gail. :)
I love posts about the horses. They are beautiful.
=)
They looked very well looked after :-)
This is just beautiful. Wonderful therapy. Who says you gotta ride.
Seriously, how do you get anything done other than time with those gorgeous creatures? What a treat! Thanks for sharing these!
A perfect way to spend the morning indeed!
Me and horses don't mix. Well, maybe I should rephrase that. Horses and me RIDING them don't mix. Maybe I could could brush them. I do pet them when I come across them. I think I would be nervous to stand between a bunch of them. But then again, these are YOUR horses and you know THEM and THEY know you. I bet spending that time brushing them not only has a calming effect on THEM, but also on you!
@Stitchen, I know someone who learned to ride at 65, then was given an older semi-retired mare for free. Spirit was only up to short walking rides, and it was a perfect match.
Sounds like a wonderful way to spend Sunday. Anything with horses and flip-flops and you can count me in. :)
