the ups and downs of a life time.
We looked back yesterday and remembered, the good and the bad. Hubby woke me a minute after midnight to wish me happy anniversary. It's always been a game with us to say it first. I gifted him yesterday's post.
We didn't do anything special. We were just together.
Our union has produced two wonderful daughters and three grandsons, all of whom we are very proud.
Our joining has also produced much laughter, a few tears, great fun and a long life together. Some days it was touch and go but so goes life. We were both too stubborn to give up and loved one another too much to stop.
...and on we go.

Happy Anniversary to you both!! hugs!
There is nothing better than marrying your soul mate. After forty years of a marriage, you appreciate one an other. No real need to do anything special, you just want to be together. That's what I call true love! Happy 40th Anniversary :-)
Sounds like my sort of day :)
Ah... that stubbornness thing - I think more of our 'kids' need that!
yep. pretty much the story for all the marriages that last. congratulations.
There must be more to it than that. You've got a magic ingredient.
Love your post. This is a little poem I keep on my bedside table. I think you might like it as much as I do:
The little boat of you and me went sailing on the deep blue sea.
We weathered winds and crashing waves, and we were strong and true and brave.
And we were still in love, so we kept sailing on the deep blue sea...
The little boat of you and me.
Happy Anniversary!
=)
Sometimes it is good to look back..and see how blessed you have been:)
Someone asked Jerry and I recently how we made it this far - soon to be 48 years. He replied, "keep your mouth shut" and I said, "pray a lot." We were both right! I read in Song of Solomon today that you shouldn't let in the small foxes into your vineyard. Small foxes, like small problems, can wreak havoc if you let them overwhelm you. With any relationship there will be tears but if we remember to keep our mouths shut when possible, to pray all the time and to forgive often it can and is a beautiful thing. Congratulations! blessings, marlene
Papa and I haven't been married as long as you but we have had our experiences and learnt from past marriages thats for sure .
1. Make sure you can laugh at yourself and eachother and always have humor in the marriage .
2. Be eachothers friend.
3. If all else fails feed him steak and potatos and all will be fine hehe !
Congrats you two .
Have a great day !
It is so true. As my husband always says, " Who the heck wants to train another one?" I love this part of life because of the friendship and the feeling of just being comfortable just because. I am glad he woke up up to say Happy Anniversary first. :) That is so sweet.
Congratulations on your life together...the young people don't seem to realize it's worth it to stay with your partner for the long haul...
Wonderful post Gail.
Again, Congratulations and many more years together. ♥
How lovely and Grenville wakes me up every morning and brings me coffee. We generally wake early then sit in bed reading the news on ipads cause we don't subscribe to any TV services. Then, it's off to the local YMCA for body exercise after the mental workouts. Glad you both had a lovely day and often doing nothing at all is just great!
Happy Anniversary Gail. Sounds like a nice way to spend the day!
I am just trying to catch up on all my reading after being on the road trip through the Southwest. Have a great day!!! Laurel
That is just cozy n warm - that's what ya make me think:)
"The comfort in a Union comes from knowing that the love you share will grow ever stronger as you go through life together". Even in the comfort that comes to both of you in not "doing anything special" comes the realization of the meaning of that beautiful promise, "To Have And To Hold".
Happy Anniversary!
From reading yesterday's post it sounds like the rain was a welcome gift.
Very nice post Gail . .
